I checked out the site. MWW is presenting on Saturday the 5th at 3:30 PM in Salon GHI on the Street level. Since I live 8 miles from the DC Convention Center and had no other plans for this weekend, you can pretty much guess where I'll be! If anyone else is there, just listen for the guy yelling "SNIPPET... SNIPPET... SNIPPET" and that'll be me.

You guys can thank my wife who pointed the appearance out to me.
She knows that I am a Weber fan due to the size of my collection.

Thought just occurred to me...

MWW has previously released at least one snippet when he was at a Con. Probably can't get "regular work" done when he attends these things, and uses some of his time in the hotel room to catch up on the more trivial things in his life.

So we can hope that Snippet 29 will be released from Washington this weekend.

Wishful thinking? :?

I have been "skulking" on the forums for a couple years, and actually signed up a few months ago. First post.

I am not so much worried about (as welcome as the would be) more snippets. I can wait a few more 5-days for the release (which has been pre-ordered from Amazon sin January).

I want to know that David is well.

I'm actually getting a bit excited... :D :D :D Really looking forward to seeing RFC today. I'll likely bring one of his books to the signing at 2, and then listen to his presentation at 3. Going to make a day of it...

I know it's a bit late in the game, but other than asking about snippets and seeing how his health looks (no, I won't ASK that - it would be disrespectful and tacky), are there questions from the group that I could ask him for you? Probably won't have time for too many, so if this post generates a lot of response in the next 2 hours or so I'll probably just pick a couple and write them down to bring with me. :D

The National Book Festival today in the DC convention center met my expectations fully.

Both David and Sharon looked great! Interestingly, I was standing in line for the book signing right in front of Chris Kennedy (for almost an hour!! :D ) and we talked for quite a while. Chris was wearing a Baen T-shirt, which sparked the conversation. Turns out that he and I flew the same aircraft in the military. For those who don't know, Chris is real big on the Honorverse side of things and will be presenting at HonorCon.

MWW and Sharon arrived a bit late for the signing, and while he went to the table to begin signing books, Sharon stayed behind and struck up a conversation with Chris and his wife. Chris introduced Sharon to me, and I really enjoyed speaking with her until I got to the front of the line to get my book (LAMA hard copy) signed.

I specifically asked MWW about more snippets, and his comments suggested two things: 1) He wants to do more, but his schedule is crazy busy. 2) There's some sort of coordination process he needs to go through to get a snippet posted, and that's one thing holding him back. From his comments, I concluded that we SHOULD see at least one more!

David's 45-minute presentation after the book signing just about had me rolling in the aisle. I sat right in the front row, conveniently right next to Sharon again. He had some great insights as to where his various works are going, including that the Honorverse movie is on hold because Evergreen Studios folded. Too many pearls to try to remember or write down - and I don't want to misstate something in this forum. What I WILL SAY is that (according to the program) all of the presentations were being recorded and will ultimately be available through the Library of Congress website. I've queried them to see when and where and will post that info here as soon as I get a response.

I can now die a happy man... I finally met RFC! :D :D :D
