Check me out here - I've been rereading.
By Heresies Distressed, March 893, X. Haryl's Crossing, Barony of Dairwyn, League of Corisande Section 4. In two places, RFC stated "Chisholmian" when I think he meant "Corisandian." The scene is the first land battle between Caleb's forces and Garvhai's at Harry's Crossing... Paragraph 1: "Brigadier Clareyk nodded in something very like satisfaction as the Chisholmians began to move forward." Paragraph 4: "In this instance, the ground was almost certainly too soft for good grazing fire, he reflected. Still, he would have liked to know whether or not the Chisholmians had reached the same conclusions." Am I correct in my reading? |

I remember that one as well. There is another like it in BHD during one of naval skirmishes if I recall correctly. |

Yep. I remember a similar glitch in AMF during that first encounter with the Dohlarans by Manthyr's fleet. It happens no matter how careful the proofreaders are. Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

Hi Don,
Yup, some of us pointed these out years ago. Overall, I think the Safehold series while it certainly has other typos, averages fewer than some of the other series; Torch of Freedom seemed to have 50-60 that jumped out at you. L

I have noticed a few (very few) typos and brain cramps in David's works but... come on... counting the Honor Harrington and this series alone we have somewhere around 25 books with average of 400 - 500 pages each. I would love to join the editorial staff at Baen as I am retired and have copious free time but I am not going to stop reading because of an handful of small errors which are fare more evident when I re-read the book than on the first time through. Honestly,
For me - once it is identified as an error - I just ignore it. This is an incredibly intricate world and a couple of ooopses are bound to occur. I look at them as 'imperfect information' as no one in the workd gets perfect information ever... it makes my enjoyment better ![]() |

I blame the AUTHOR! MWW just had to name those 3 countries, Charis, Chisholm and Corisande! So easy to confuse and absolutely bonkers. I mean really, what countries in the real world have such similar names? (Cough) Ira? & Ira? - Those crazy Europeans of the 'tween War' period! ![]() -----

Nice try!
Unfortunately, both names go back before anybody in Europe knew what reading was. OTOH, I can't recall that they were in use contemporaneously before the 19th century [one or the other, they both popped up repeatedly, not both at one time], and it may well have been European writers who reintroduced the use of Iraq...

My solution when I find these little gems usually involves a ball point pen. After all I'm usually reading dead tree versions.
