Seems like something the improvisers on the AOG side might come up with. |

Seems more complex to me. Your breach and your cartridge have to be molded to a matching shape with decent accuracy so that the rounds made at a different location in quantity will fit. A simple cylinder is much easier to make, and can be cold rolled and crimped together. Much simpler than casting. I think I don't understand why this gun was ever made, but it sure is unique. Finally, isn't the AoG's biggest problem that they have no idea how to make mercury fulminate for the primer? |

The advantage of using brass cartridges or seals is that they "fire-form" to fit each chamber exactly. New cartridges can be slightly undersized and still seal perfectly when fired. They can only be reloaded for that individual fire-arm with a full case reforming die, but the design presented in the OP probably isn't re-loadable, so that is a non-issue anyway. The design would work well for a tech base that isn't perfectly standardized since molds for casting are easier to standardize than machine tools. As long as the ammunition and weapons are close enough for the brass to fire-form a sealed breach it would work just fine.
There is an entire book of the Writ devoted to substances that are not banned outright but carry dire warnings about accidental or deliberate creation. The Charisian Proto-chemist metions the need to make a study of that book for other useful, if dangerous, compounds. .
. . Answers! I got lots of answers! (Now if I could just find the right questions.) |

The priming caps have already been approved and the manufacture of them is not difficult. So the church will soon have them if they are not already in the field.

I think I'd rather have a breech loading caplock like their Ferguson knockoff than have to fiddle with an internal pinfire design like that one. At least it's an internal pinfire design. Pinfire ammo is a pain because you have to worry about bending or breaking the pin.
Be tough to reload one of them in the dark (you have to make sure the pin is located so the hammer can strike it or the round won't fire) and rough to try to reload while wearing gloves, too. |

Approved in Charis. I know they're publishing most things in their patents, but I thought they were keeping some details secret, where it would be a military secret. |

Nope.
IIRC, they were reverse engineered, not betrayed, since Kaitswyrth captured stacks of them on the Daivyn. Clyntahn has already approved them for the AoG, and the St Kylman is designed to use them.
