In the last snippet DW showed in remarkable detail a field kitchen on sleds.
My question is could they build one adapted as a Divisional and Corps head quarters instead of a field Kitchen? I could see the advantage of a division having a boxed in room on sleds that is able to act as a mobile HQ. Thoughts? |

Of course they could. There is nothing to support the idea that they did... Most surely it would be easier to manage than Harless' tent back in LAMA... Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

They might have, but with Green Valley and Eastshare living and eating like their troops the won't do something that stupid. Remember Harless and his ilk, mobile wine cellars, eating far better than the troops and never suffering a lack of food, always warm and dry. |

I agree, but that is not incompatable with idea of a dry command area where there could be tables for sitting down with maps making reports and doing the sorts of things that the staff of an army does to keep things going in the desired direction. This latter makes sense and they can live and eat with the troops right along with it. Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

Yes. I can see it now. A narrow desk surface running the length of the wagon on both sides. Six chairs bolted to the wagon bottom with three facing each way. Six clerks sitting in the chairs with seat belts on, dipping their quills in ink pots that are secured by special cutouts on the desk top. The clerks all busy filling out reports with the inadvertent squiggles of ink on every third letter... James |

With small Howsmyn developed vented gas heaters under each chair to keep the clerks from freezing their arses off... Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

For those who did see the movie Patton, remember Omar Bradley's Command Trailer (Post D-Day) and then think it on runners. Walls to hold maps and charts with sufficient space to hold compact meetings around a fold-down table. Nothing luxurious bout it, all designed around exercising more informed command. -----

I'm buying in. I think it's a great idea. James' post was funny though. I was just developing the humor a bit. Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

I don't think I've seen any sign of typewriters. We do have printing with letters bein set up for producing the posters being tacked up on the walls of Manchyr in Corisande. Our good friend Patryk Hamrai (sp) was involved doing that. But no typewrters yet. Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.
