I would like to invite speculation whether seijin Dialydd Mab has reported his raid to Aivah, and if so what reactions the Lord Protector of Siddarmark had to it. Anyone?

Given the beginning of HFQ, I would suggest Nimue Chwaeriau deliver the report to Aivah. That ought to spike her speculation more than a little. It confirms the seijin's ability to travel large distances quickly and it confuses the issue of just how many seijin's there are. Aivah is more than smart enough to get the hint without Merlin ever actually saying he can get her to the Temple within a day.

Oh, I don't think Merlin is going to create any doubts in Nimue's mind at this late date. Frankly by now the best thing to do would be to bring her in out of the cold and get her a com!

As for the report, I imagine he'll dicuss what happened with Cayleb which has been the norm.

You said Nimue. Did you mean Aivah?

If Merlin wanted to confirm that ability to her, why not just tell her. I'm certain she would believe it. In fact, getting her to disbelieve it, should that be Merlin's wish, is the task that would take the most doing.

and it confuses the issue of just how many seijin's there are.

Why would Merlin wish to confuse the issue of how many seijins there are?

Aivah is more than smart enough to get the hint without Merlin ever actually saying he can get her to the Temple within a day.

It seems to me that if Merlin doesn't tell Aivah that he can get her to Zion and back in a day, then she would have to make preparations based on not being able to do so. If Aivah has to make those plans, then how does it help Merlin for Aivah to know he can move quickly and won't help her?

Hi guys,

It will be far more interesting to me as to how soon Nynian picks up the story from her contacts in the temple, if she hasn't already.

The possible problem is the time involved to get Dialydd Mab's letter to the temple in just a 5day or so or even 2 or 3 given the average internal gap between sections 8 and 12 in October is less than 5 and a half days to travel some 2187+ miles by canal, and even if Duchairn's 'specials' can travel 26.516666/5, 4 mph doesn't get it to the temple assuming only 2-3 days on Lake Pei in less than ~18-20 days.

Even using a coach and 6-12 horses, switching them every hour as the 400 mile coach route between Edinburgh and London in two days offered [after the turn of the 19th century] did 50 times, to get ~200 miles per day still means around 11 days.

It's been about 3 month's since the report got to Clyntahn, wyverns could have reach SC by early November.

It would have been a very interesting discussion with people asking Merlin if he knows Dialydd Mab...

I don't doubt that she'll hear about it if she hasn't already, but I'm pretty sure that it's going to be one more piece of confirmation for her, after all, she's already proven that she can use a calendar.

Are you saying that Aivah will assume Dialydd Mab and Merlin Athrawes are one-and-the-same? I know that she thinks Ahbraim Jhevons and Merlin are, but I don't remember any evidence that she thinks Dialydd and Merlin are.

I have the impression from the snippet that she has figured out that Merlin was behind all of his aliases.
