What about creating canned goods, not only will they not have to worry about their food supplies going bad, but I could help feed the Siddarmarkians and since the have dogs can't the train them to sniff out gunpowder for any more Rakurai and for when the temple loyalist start using landmines.

And couldn't the recreate quick concrete for making tougher bunkers

I don't remember who suggested coffee, but I second it. Given enough coffee, I could rule the world!

Coffee would of course require coffee plants - did they survive the Safehold environment? (Climatically, they should be growing round Charis or Silkia).
Freeze drying might be worth a look, but this requires refrigeration (ammonia?- and leading to air conditioning) and effective vacuum pumps. (Instant coffee...)

Well, as a non-american, I hesitate to mention it to a potential Bostonian - but there's always Tea.... :D

Seriously, there is probably a tea analogue, that contains caffine.

So even if coffee is out, caffinated drinks may still exist!

Absorption refrigeration can be used to preserve perishable food and eventually medicine. In Tellesburg it could use the gas that is begging to be used to light the city. In Charis' steamships the boiler could be used the same in the upcoming locomotives. It can also be used for air conditioning. It would enable EoC to start exporting more of its perishables. It would also help answer the question about how to soften the blow to EoC farmers post war and Siddarmarkian food lift. (Some farmers might need to switch crops to species unique to the empire or at least cheaper/more productive to the empire than destination markets.)

How about bicycles? Mountain bike style ones are designed for challenging terrain, including cobblestone streets, dirt roads, off country trails etc. They don't require fodder and can be stored in a small location. Early bicycles used wooden wheels, similar to carriage wheels so there's no need to invent rubber. If they can be made cheaply enough, think about the advantages to the lower middle class who currently can't afford to maintain horses or dragons.

Fiber needs repeater and a very bright light source to go any distance. We use repeater to boost the light signal (A repeater is a light detector/receiver and laser transmitter) about ever 10 miles or so powered by electricity. Fiber like copper has attenuation and the light signal will go below detection level if not boosted. (Fiber works by bouncing the light signal off the sides of the fiber like a mirror so that the light stays in the fiber and travel down it. Glass is not 100% transparent so the signal loses a little energy as it bounces it way towards the other end.) Plus how bright of a light was you going to use to send your message. We use lasers and still have to have repeater for long distance.

But safehold doesn't need high bandwidth low error (well sort of since they
would be using eyeballs to decode). Anyway to re-open a can of worms:

magnesium flash bulbs. back when they existed i loved buying some, taking them to school, setting them off with a 9v battery while the bulb was "hidden".
so could magnesium in a pure oxygen environment be set off somehow? frankly
i dunno how to get magnesium other then the store or if its possible to get pure enough oxygen without electricity.
