Comparisons to Black Powder show how much more effective the more modern explosives will be, but still, we're not talking about orders of magnitude more effective...

Exactly. Improvements beyond current just isn´t easy. Basic limitations from energy content.

Hi Madwell,

Except the KHVII's are almost 40% greater tonnage, which in that class is considerable, thought the engine power is a close match, the basic dimensions do not.

The succeeding class is much closer in dimensions but the engine power is up a third.

I remember RFC's reference to the HMS Blake, but even if the KHVII's were rated then equivalent of protected cruisers on earth, they're still the most powerful ships ever conceived or built on Safehold, able to destroy all other warships combined as HFQ states.

It being the earliest real life ship to look like a battle ship Ive found.
Though the French ship Redoubtable (1876) may be a better match.

I believe that DW once mentioned that they were comparable to a 1890's Italian design - the Ammiraglio di Saint Bon class battleship - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammiraglio_di_Saint_Bon-class_battleship.

Can someone confirm this?
Any snippet or post from RFC is good if not great!
