Page 234 of HFQ, Clyntahn lecturing Rayno on Writ. I'm sure I remember some other mention but my memory has failed me before.

It's been said in a few places, sorry I don't have them right here to look through. But I can remember one of the times was in BHD, when the Bishop that arranged the attempt on Sharly at the convent was talking to the head of a monastery that he was using to launder money. The head guy was expressing concern that Merlin might be a demon and the Bishop reminded him that if he were, they would see angelic intervention to deal with him and he apologized for having forgotten that and letting the reputation of Merlin rattle him. (At least, that's how I'm remembering it, I could be wrong)
I think it's mentioned once or twice in nearly all of the books though, that was the major reason that the Church had not named him a demon before the rescue of Iris and Co. After that it was a bit hard to say he was just a man, he either had to be a seijin or a demon in the common peoples mind and they finally had to call him a demon, even though that was going to leave it open to where are the supernatural counter to him? |
