You are assuming facts not in evidence! Said speedy unearthly consumer of a vegetative growth, whose name rhymes with salary, is as likely as not to leave that sentence 'dangling' and move on to other portions of the book. Remember he is also known as MWW and I call him a smiling but vicious one for his use of dual value ellipses that more resemble Schrödinger's cat box!

And thus the computer industry was shackled for decades... and counting! :x

On the bright side we know that Merlin doesn't run on Windows, or he'd have to reboot occasionally!

Yeah, but in his favour, you have to admit that he wasn't an billionaire at the time - I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't had to borrow that 50K to buy DOS.
Nope, he didn't have the money at all. He paid the $50k with the advance IBM gave him once they saw him demo the CP/M knockoff he'd "bought" from his acquaintance.

The entire PC world was changed for the worst by the most lucrative con job in history... :(

On the bright side, he'll eventually join Clyntahn and his inquisitors in their warm, cozy destination in the afterlife, so take solace in that thought whenever you have to reboot your computer or get the dreaded BSOD! ;)

"Oh bother", said Pooh as he glanced through the airlock window at the helmet he'd forgotten to wear.

A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
