Tor books on Amazon are DRM-free. When I bought one (The Life of the Mind by Scalzi) which was accidentally sold with DRM I e-mailed Tor customer service and they replied quickly with a DRM-free file attached. Great customer service.

All:

Thanks for your answers. I just went to the McMillan (publisher) site and searched for David Weber to get to the book.

http://us.macmillan.com/

From there, you can select the eBook version. B&N is one of the options (takes you to their site), as is Amazon. One other site is eBooks.com, which is where I ended up going as they specifically state that they offer downloads with an "epub" extension. This is the open standard, as opposed to Amazon's proprietary format.

I was able to download HFQ easy peasy and now have it on my tablet with the other books in the series, in the same file format.

Guess I know what I'll be doing tonight!
