I think that for both power to weight ratios and simplicity of controls that a diesel IC engine is a better starting point for heavier than air aviation. You could progress from a simple inline engine to something like this (http://www.zoche.de/zoche_brochure.pdf) without incurring the fabrication and control challenges of a light weight turbine system.

Hot bulb engines are simple compared to a Praigyr and donr need electricity or water
Though they'd need gearing to up the RPMs for propeller or start a turbine

Agree with both of you. The attestations already exist for almost all of the features of a diesel. The hot bulb is new, but is nothing that challenges the proscription.

I also vote for Diesel in a "non electricity" environment.

Steam is too heavy and complicated 1200 psi is non trivial.

Jet turbines are lifespan limited without advanced electricity dependent alloys and require insanely precise tolerances compared to steam/diesel/bolt action/Machine gun manufacture
