I've thought that for a while. If the OBS was programmed to strike at something like that, it would strike an uninhabited island and harm no one, and it would inform the Inner Circle that yes, the OBS would do that.

The question is whether the OBS would "phone home".

Swatting Merlin's attempted robotic probes wouldn't produce that. That would be done by an automated point defense system swatting anything that might be a threat without particularly caring what it was.

But we know there is communication between the ground and the OBS. It was under human control when it turned the Alexandria Enclave into Armageddon Reef. What we don't know is whether the link is two-way. If it does take out an electrical installation, does it report back saying it did so and those in charge need to take a look? That would likely involve waking up whatever is under the Temple, and that's the last thing Merlin and company want.
