Don't forget that Clyntahn just lost his planned-for hold over Thirsk. If he hasn't already rethought that schedule, he will next time Dohlar comes to the top of his to-be-done-unto list.

Come to think of it, the timing of Merlin's visit may have been set by the arrival of new instructions on whats-his-name the Intendant's desk.

First you have Charis closing in which means that unless they remove themselves from the war voluntarily, it will be forced upon them. The second one is that we know that Clyntahn plans to gather those officers and bring them to Zion along With Thirsk. However according to textev, that shouldn't be until the following summer. So the issue of Dohlar's participation in the war should be resolved prior to that, putting both Thirsk and the officers beyond Clintahn's reach.

That's certainly a possibility. The only counter to that is that the same set of constraints which prevented Clyntahn from doing that to start with still apply. Of course we all know that Clytahn and constraints don't go well together in the same sentence

So...we'll see.

When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.
