I've wondered why one of the other of the Go4 don't just kill Clyntahn. He's a mortal man, and clearly off his rocker. Rayno sees it, most of the Go4 sees it pretty clearly. When he's rabidly foaming at the mouth and ordering the impossible, they know he's not sane.
With Clyntahn dead, Rayno might or might not take charge, but the others would be free to execute plans. They could deal with anything which Clyntahn had left behind. |

By the time killing Clyntahn became a particularly good idea, security was firmly in the hands of the inquisitors. It makes it hard to kill Clyntahn and survive the aftermath.

Clyntahn issues orders as to the "final" results he wants. Rayno sees to the accomplishment of those orders. The man who carries out those orders is equally liable for the consequences achieved. |

Saul/Paul's conversion was an incredibly dramatic event. Saul was a man not to unlike Rayno (although Judaism did not have the equivalent of the Punishment). He was sent to Damascus for the express purpose of bring the Christians back to Jerusalem in chains. He had also presided over the deaths of several Christians most notably, the stoning of Stephen. Afterwards, Paul was a man that no one could shut up. Despite beatings, scourgings, stonings, riots, imprisonings and various other attempts to kill him. Anyone who experiences that level of change does not become a "closet" anything. His only real choices would be... 1 Take over (getting rid of Clyntahn in the process) or 2 Get out and setup resistance elsewhere. Like Duchairn, his newfound faith would render him incapable of doing the things that Clyntahn would require of him, however unlike Duchairn, Rayno is in no place where he could survive doing it, thus his two options. |

I agree. Rayno is a very nasty snake in the grass. He deserves to die. One of the Wylsynn brothers mentioned that Rayno rigged the vote in the most recent election for Grand Vicar. If the vote had been fair Samyl Wylsnn would have won the election. |
