So when are you going to start the list?
Hint: Merlin was not the first even though s/he was the first :? !

I guess you could say that Maikel was the first, with Haarald running a close second? Depends on how far you go back with the brethren?

Shan-Wei and her merry band of conspirators way back before they left Earth would be the VERY first. Nimue-the-PICA aka Merlin didn't get informed until around a thousand years later. And even Jeremiah Knowles and his bunch were only let in after Safehold had been colonized.

Well technically Nimue was at the initial meeting were resistance to Langhourne was first discussed. This could be the initial inner circle. Though that Nimue died so it might be a bit confusing.

All of this is arbitrary. But here is another arbitrary idea. I think it would make sense to consider the inner circle as beginning at that point when Merlin encounters the brethren.

The story begins in the present tense when Nimue wakes up. Everything that has gone before is presented as backstory.

We'd probably have a more useful thread adopting any convention - that one is as good as any! - and working out the list based on it.

That's why I said "Nimue-THE-PICA" and not just "Nimue". Nimue-the-PICA was recorded by Nimue-the-original-human BEFORE that meeting, and thus Nimue-the-Pica wasn't informed about it until a thousand years later.

Alright. I'm going to start a reread of the series here soon and will do my best to create the list. There are some that do happen "off screen" so those will just be added as best guesses if they are close to another. I might also break it down further by breaking it into different categories like Brethren approved or emergency entry ie Sharley. Maybe by whatever unit of the EoC they come from as well.

I will start with the above suggested point of Merlin encountering the Brethren.
