We also have to take into account the fact that the map is left intentionally vague to allow RFC to have a better idea later if it occurs to him. ;)

Some of it is INTENTIONALLY vague as it is his and allows him to not be painted into a corner if the story develops a bit while writing.

I have appreciated having that much detail over the years to double check things (especially when reading snippets and I don't have a book handy to check the map).

I understand his leaving things vague until he needs them - why paint any corners he doesn't have to :mrgreen: My problem was that I could not reconcile the scale of the stuff I was looking at with the maps them self on a macro scale. It appears I was looking at the wrong scale and have since (as a result of things said in this topic) resolved my problem. Thank you one and all.
