I have been re-reading the whole series and something I seem to have missed was Rhobair Duchairn thinking about the content of the note secretly passed from Vicar Hauwerd to himself and as Duchairn put it "The demand it made, the hope it offered and the promise it had required from him."

So what was in the note and when is Duchairn going to act on it?

Most of assume he has been acting on it ever since then.

A number of us believe that one thing the note said was that Duchairn should trust Phandys, the man who has become his guard on behalf of Clyntahn. We believe that Phandys was working with the Wylsynns, and collaborated on making sure both of them died so they would not face interrogation. It explains why Phandys reported to Clyntahn that the Wylsynns were about to flee the Temple, when they obviously did not have such plans.

Some speculation has suggested that the chapel where Duchairn has spent time was also mentioned in the note, along with names of other people to trust.

All of which, as SWM admits, is sheer speculation without a shred of explicit textev to back it up, despite the errr ... forceful tenacity with which some posters advocate it.

But some of us are so smart that we know what David Weber is up to.

Of course, most of the time David Weber has fooled us.
