When Clyntahns Very angry response to the letter he received. I couldn't believe how Rayno was able to keep it together. He was obvious scared but not to hardly even flinch was amazing. I would have split the scene lol

Remember, this is not the first time that Rayno has seen Clyntahn in a rage, he has practice. |

IIRC Rayno knows that Clyntahn uses his "rages" deliberately as a way of gaining power & maintaining power.
I suspect that early in their careers, Clyntahn decided that somebody who could "withstand" his rages was useful. Rayno had showed Clyntahn both that he was loyal to him and that he could "withstand" Clyntahn's rages. While Clyntahn has major flaws, he knows that he needs somebody who is not afraid of telling him "unwelcome" truths. While Rayno has to "phrase events" careful at times, he also doesn't lie to Clyntahn for "fear of provoking a rage" or fails to tell Clyntahn something for "fear of provoking a rage". Admittedly even Rayno thought about not showing Clyntahn the Mab letter but a "lesser man" might have tried to hide the letter.

I have often wondered about Rayno
Does he believe in God? and if so does he truly believe that Clinton is Gods right hand man given all the lies and torture of innocent children? I also wonder what Rayno thinks the organisation is that did this killing of his agents? You would think it would get him profoundly worried about the organization and it might have placed that little seed of doubt in his mind: "is this organization really a group of seijin's and if it is then are we are we really on Gods side?" |

There has been textev of Rayno's thinking about Clyntahn's actions. Most of which appear to support the "sterner face the CoGA now presents to the faithful."
Even more telling is what he has done to get himself into power (Clyntahn as well) IMO Rayno is a prime example of what the CoGA has fallen to, willing to put children to torture to secure his power-base because he believes that IS god's will. It also helps that the Book of Schuler covers him to some extent in this regard, even if it IS more legal fiction than anything else. To be quite frank Clyntahn's support of the pedophile Vicars due to their "reliability" pretty much answers any questions about how far he and Rayno will go to stay in power. And of course as this was BEFORE the clash with Charis, so if they did not give a damn about upholding the writ back then it should be expected that they will do ANYTHING at all to stay in power now. Which helps immensely at killing the proscriptions... |

FWIW, I see Rayno as a functionally religious atheist. |

Personally I see Rayno as Beria to Chlyntan's Stalin and smart enough to know he can never step onto the bosses shoes without getting a bad case of dead.
