It doesn't look at all like a uniform. Simple as that.

There are no rank insignia, no decorations, no unit patches, no headgear. It looks horribly impractical - that high collar would not mesh well with a helmet, those tails look stiff and difficult to sit with, there's no room for pockets, that belt...ugh.

No. Just no.

I'm kinda biased. :mrgreen:

Unfortunately, I clicked the wrong button. I wanted to hit the BuNine version choice, but hit the Hell No one, not that that doesn't sum up my feelings as well.

But as I said in that other thread, this sort of thing is pointless except as a place for people to vent, since whatever the outcome, nothing's going to change.

I prefer the Evergreen version if given rank insignia and what not.

Hopefully, they have or will cast an actress to play Honor Harrington that can fill the uniform so well.

A uniform you wear on a ship doesn't have medals and awards on it that is your formal. Plus ribbons and things are for show only. Old fashioned and the current hos version looks like pajamas. No pockets, is that is useful?

Rank of course can be added, perhaps digitally and only when friendlies are around. The current uniform looks like it tries to do too much with too little options. An arm stripe single colour for a specific rank range or if you like operations shirt shoulder colour, command or engineering or ....

Fast recognition for those that know or need to know, to everyone else they look the same. Can't shoot the admiral when you don't know who the admiral is.

Heck this is well in the future, from the outside every uniform could look Identical but all service personnel could have a contact lens or eyeimplant ... That shows all rank virtually imposed. Can't shoot the Admiral when everyone looks the same. But when your eye implant / lens sees someone walking or working in front of you it let's you know exactly who you are looking at. Could be passive with an IRQ code, or active with encrypted signal. Could change for life scans, people in the wrong place, just figuring out who someone is.

40th century not 18th century.
