Ok. I now feel like I've been cheating for playing my game on my iPad ( what do you mean, "The road is bumpy?", as I'm driving the bus in reverse).
For everybody that's been playing this game on your small @$$ phone screens. Wow! This is still a awesome game even though my pudgy fingers get in the way. Oh my God, here I am thinking I was pretty good at. Which I still think I can't wait for the version where we get to go to broadsides with each other. Evergreen, I've noticed (iPad and iPhone) when I get caught out and have to flee or am just destroyed, my damage in my side meter follows me into my ?maintenance? screen as fire and broken deck plates. Sometimes and I probably shouldn't complain but there are times when I am really busted up and it doesn't. Your thoughts? Discussed earlier about stacking items in a section. My observation of this is it can be done but not all from the same grouping. Consider the optimization unit, enhancement matrix and integration web for example. They all speed up your component upgrades.
Yet they each fall under a different group based on the colored item drops: orange, purple, blue, green and meh!. I tried adding them from the same level, color and description and it won't let me but if I add it's type and it's next upgrade, the effect accumulates. Anybody notice anything different? One strategy question.
I'm at level 15. I think I'm getting the hang of battles, although they're by no means gimmes. It seems to me the only components worth installing are the power boosters. Maybe my CM are slower to reload, but 4 beats 2 by a long shot. The same for lasers, weapons and sidewalls. A lot of the components look really cool, but not enough to make up for an extra middle or two in the broadside. What are your thoughts? |

As far as I can tell, a particular type of upgrade does not stack. So if you have a power booster installed, adding another does not do anything. So you might as well use the other equipment slots for other gear. Speaking of other gear, I do find half of them to be genuinely useful. Anything which inflicts additional damage to components is incredibly useful in the second act. Also useful is anything which reduces the cooldown of your defensive systems. |

Hi Yow - There is a random chance, based upon the amount of damage that your ship has taken in battle, that you'll emerge with systems on fire. The more damage you take, the higher that chance. Also, the different classes of ships are more or less vulnerable. Basically it's a die roll with certainties shifted based on various inputs. There are several components that you could investigate that will help with how quickly fires can be suppressed as well as how quickly damaged tiles can be repaired. If you've suffered a lot of damage, you can visit an Outpost to fix all the damage at once. |

My observations Good start with the power boosters... but trust me, those other components help tremendously especially if you add them as I previously posted. The thing I am starting to notice and interpret is the items don't just protect the ship but add their two cents to their equivalent systems damage downrange by adding unseen and unseemly powerful +1s, +2s to your missle barrage. If any one is skeptical, I make it a personal challenge to try my beat my opponents with nothing but hull penetrators Currently my hull averages around 1600 depending on add-ons. Ships with 3000 hull are not impossible to take down I do it regularly. There is even video evidence though a few seemed to be specific quirks ( I miss you PNS Nergal) Cthia's father ~ "Son, do not cater to the common belief that a person has to earn respect. That is not true. You should give every person respect right from the start. What a person has to earn is your continued respect!" |

Thanks, guys!
Does officer level offer any bonuses besides being able to upgrade components past a certain level? Also, do the simulators and trainers really work? I tried with and without it installed, and the upgrade times were the same. (4hr for 9 to 10). The countdowns ran at 1 sec per sec, as well. |

Forgot to say.
I love the explosion animation on the third level. The pieces of cruiser spinning off are tragically majestic. I still have a hard time with the vertical fore hammerhead, though. It makes the ships look like pick axes. |
