So I've been playing for a while and got to the battle with Warnecke, which I admit was giving me much difficulty. So the last time I played I noticed that in the middle of the battle, between swarms of incoming missles, my laser defenses dropped from slightly damaged to 2/3 damaged, without any new missle strikes. That battle is difficult enough without the game cheating.
So I quit the game, then uninstalled it, and I won't be reinstalling it. ------------

I noticed something similar today. Taking double-shots from incoming missiles, missiles suddenly firing twice as fast, that sort of thing. Quitting, force-stopping and restarting fixed it. Out of curiosity, how hard would you say Warnecke is compared to this week's event hard mode boss? |

I haven't gotten this far and I'm already considering uninstalling it (completely, my iphone has it no longer and I may take it off my iPad) because of the unexpectedly frustrating difficulty. I've been gaming since Mario 3 was new and I'm fast approach the "beat my head against the wall in frustration" zone :-/

Difficulty? WHAT difficulty? This game is roughly as hard as leveling up in World of Warcraft. The only thing I've found that's truly hard is when you decide to do something deliberately out of your league, like take a light cruiser against hard mode bosses. |

Did you max out your ship department levels before the Warneke fight?
I remember spending some time 'grinding' for resources to buy the power level ups necessary for maxing out ship department levels before I proceeded to him. The fight then was very doable then. |

That's actually quite fun. It's like your own lil' basilisk end-game run. Cthia's father ~ "Son, do not cater to the common belief that a person has to earn respect. That is not true. You should give every person respect right from the start. What a person has to earn is your continued respect!" |

Yeah, most fun boss in the game. Every thing after is just an anticlimax.
To beat him, max your department head levels, then put enough level boosters (or high enough level, don't remember right which at that point) to match the energy level to the department head level. Put maxed equipment at the remaining slots. Which is a question of game style, I did very well with payload, defense rapid recovery and system damage items. Just remember, most items accumulate. So, two payload boosters do more damage than 1, by a large amount. And so on and so forth for most items. The rest is tatics, and not exceptionally complicated ones, although implementing them on the run requires some practice. First, using your impeler bands is a last resource. Only do it after your other defenses are exhausted. It will also give your other defenses time to recover. Second, your sidewalls are there for a reason. Use them. If there are just one or two missiles left on a salve, them hit the sidewalls if you got enough pips to go on. Third, In general recovery time, Laser > Counter Missiles > ECM. So when possible use the laser first. Fourth and most important, if your enemy can't hit you, you are golden. Try to use mavericks and BPL's to batter down the enemy's weapon capabilities. Just wait till your enemy's defenses are battered down a bit before using them. Also, he will very probably turn to avoid a salvo, always go into that fight with a lot of them. Fifth and incidental, if you get the first shot boost from your officers, that one is a killer if you got enough good system damage boosters installed. Itt means that if you use hull piercers (the standard missile) and shoot imediately after the combat starts, 2 salves will get through. That means that he will start combat with his defenses and weapons somewhat degraded, and that will only get worse as you give him even more damage. slippery slope. Hope this helps. |

For the record, I would love to see a final ship be named El Duderino, or even just one of the ships on the live event. Might want to ask legal if you need to talk to somebody from The Big Lebowski about it though. ________________
