Probably easier to do the two-flight method. I hate connecting flights.
Why not go by car? Only a little bit more than 1.100 miles or so - one way. 16 hours time to drive, Google predicts.
Me, on the other hand ... I have to come by airplane - there's no highway from Germany to the USA, I'm afraid ...
