Bullshit. The focus has been on illegal immigrants.

No, it's not. Unless the syrian refugees are definitely illegal.
It also doesn't cover the whole shebang of memes the GOP is spreading about arabs and latinos.

The E wrote:
Item 2: Giving a platform to concerns over President Obama's citizenship.

He stated in his autobiography " Dreams of My Father" that he was born in Kenya. Was he lying then and not now? This wasn't something created by Republicans.

See, this is why I can't take birthers seriously. It takes just a little bit of snooping to figure out that the "born in kenya" bit was something printed in promotional material for the book, not in the text itself (the passage there reads: "He was an African, I would learn, a Kenyan of the Luo tribe, born on the shores of Lake Victoria in a place called Alego. The village was poor, but his father—my other grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama—had been a prominent farmer, an elder of the tribe, a medicine man with healing powers. My father grew up herding his father’s goats and attending the local school, set up by the British colonial administration, where he had shown great promise. He eventually won a scholarship to study in Nairobi; and then, on the eve of Kenyan independence, he had been selected by Kenyan leaders and American sponsors to attend a university in the United States, joining the first large wave of Africans to be sent forth to master Western technology and bring it back to forge a new, modern Africa.
In 1959, at the age of twenty-three, he arrived at the University of Hawaii as that institution’s first African student. He studied econometrics, worked with unsurpassed concentration, and graduated in three years at the top of his class. His friends were legion, and he helped organize the International Students Association, of which he became the first president. In a Russian language course, he met an awkward, shy American girl, only eighteen, and they fell in love. The girl’s parents, wary at first, were won over by his charm and intellect; the young couple married, and she bore them a son, to whom he bequeathed his name.").

So. Who is lying? Is it the text of the book? Is it the promotional material (that the author usually has no control over)?

Or is it the people who very desperately need to believe that Obama not only shouldn't have been President, but couldn't have been? The same people who, need I remind you, scour the obituaries for anyone with even the slightest, most coincidental connection to the Clintons to fit into an ever-expanding gallery of "Clinton assassinations"?

The E wrote:Item 3: Using the spectre of voting fraud as a tool to enact rules that make it harder for minority voters to gain the right to vote (source).

All we are asking for is just the same sorts of protections Germany has. Implementation of those policies must be applied as fairly as possible. Also, voter fraud is far less important that election fraud. Still, every bit counts.

Then prove that fraud, of any kind, is actually happening. Prove that the measures the GOP is instituting are actually fair.

The E wrote:Item 4: The enthusiastic endorsement of the various anti-immigrant, anti-muslim policies of one Donald Trump by the party's base.

That we apply some standards for who we accept into our country is prudent. Trump and most Republicans I know are looking to apply adequate screening process. If you think that's unreasonable, there is really no point in further discussion.

No, sorry, you do not get to apply "we just want reasonable checks" here. Donald Trump said, "Donald Trump is calling for a complete shutdown on Muslims entering the US", to great acclaim. There is nothing measured or reasonable about that. Trump's standard is "Are you muslim? Are you from a conflict zone? If yes to either, then you're out." This is not a "some standards" kind of thing. It's not "adequate screening" by any stretch of the imagination.

And all of that was cheered. All of that rhetoric brought Trump to where he is. And it's racist/"nationalist" bullshit at its worst.

The E wrote:Item 5: =https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/08/01/888775/-A-design-feature]The southern strategy.

Yup, Republicans sought to gain the southern vote. They did not change their egalitarian policies as a result. Neither did the Democrats change their fundamental view that the races were inherently different.

The South is much more egalitarian than it was. Democrats have insinuated their brand of racially targeted policies in the Northern inner cities. The result? One example is that Detroit was one of the richest cities in the US after WWII, now it is one of the poorest major cities.

Robert Byrd Democrat and KKK
David fucking Duke. Praising and being praised by Trump. Do the math.

The E wrote:Item 6: A correlation exists between restrictions on the vote, presence of minorities, and republican leadership (=https://thinkprogress.org/study-more-voter-suppression-laws-are-proposed-when-more-racial-minorities-vote-8498306871c0#.g7eopezhk]source).

Requiring an ID to cote is racist? Then Germany is racist. What is the difeerence between Germany's requirement than this?

The difference is this: Mandatory national ID has been part of the german legal canon for decades by now. It was instituted before we had the Wirtschaftswunder. Getting an ID is easy and can be done in an afternoon. It's a well-oiled process by this point. You do not have that. You don't have the infrastructure for it. As a result, and there are multiple studies on this that you can find for yourself, it is much harder for an American to get ID documents than it would be for a german national.

The E wrote:Item 7: A whole collection of casual racism from prominent GOP figures

Again: The GOP is a predominantly white, predominantly old, predominantly affluent party. This is going to bite them in the long run. In 2012, the GOP realized this, yet they were unable to respond in any meaningful way to the influx of borderline (and not so borderline) racist voices in the runup to and in the wake of Trump.

That's right, having some control about who actually comes into our country is somehow racist. Bullshit. have a screening process. Limit immigration to amounts we can practically integrate. If those policies are racist, then racism has been redefined too broadly to be useful. Well, its only use appears to be as a cudgel for the left to silence those with whom they disagree.

Could you please respond to the point I was making in item 7? Not the one you think I was talking about, but the one I was actually talking about?

The GOP is totally not trying to use voter restrictions against african americans, no siree.

It's pure coincidence that the voting methods they would like to remove are the ones predominantly used by black people.

But don't worry, it's really not about racism.

Longtime Republican consultant Carter Wrenn, a fixture in North Carolina politics, said the GOP’s voter fraud argument is nothing more than an excuse.

“Of course it’s political. Why else would you do it?” he said, explaining that Republicans, like any political party, want to protect their majority. While GOP lawmakers might have passed the law to suppress some voters, Wrenn said, that does not mean it was racist.

“Look, if African Americans voted overwhelmingly Republican, they would have kept early voting right where it was,” Wrenn said. “It wasn’t about discriminating against African Americans. They just ended up in the middle of it because they vote Democrat.”

No, it's just that those damn uppity blacks insist on voting for Democrats, and that just won't do.

Is this hitting?

If I replied by asking if The E had renewed his annual membership for his National Socialist Party, would that be hitting?

Just curious if there are any boundaries in this forum. Since he specifically address this post to me in the title heading, everything here is pointed at me. I await an apology and have decided not to submit reply to the previous post. I just finished ItSoV and am just getting caught up elsewhere.

On second thought, don't apologize. Bis die Holle gefriert, buddy.

You should really work some more on your red herrings, because that one was pathetic.

And of course it came the moment your arguments were shot down.

What are you even talking about? This is a specific response to your continued assertion that the voting restrictions enacted by republicans are used to combat voting fraud; something that at least in this very specific North Carolina case just isn't true. Given that it isn't true there, and given that vote fraud is not the big problem you make it out to be (as in, it's a big problem when it happens but it isn't actually happening), the assumption that any such attempt by republicans is less about securing the integrity of the voting process and more about making sure that people who vote democrat don't get to vote is hard to shake.

You see, underneath all the sarcasm in my post was a genuine point. What is underneath yours? Your question about my membership in the NSDAP is, at best, a baffling non sequitur.

The only thing I would apologize for is for not noticing it. Go back up the thread. The first post with an altered title heading was Howard's post here; if this is crossing a line for you, why didn't you notice it there?

I figured this needed to be noted, again.

http://money.cnn.com/2016/09/25/media/n ... nton-lies/

"On the weekend leading up to 2016's first presidential debate, four news organizations came to a similar and sweeping conclusion: Donald Trump lies more often than Hillary Clinton."

"Politico found that Trump averaged "one falsehood every three minutes and 15 seconds over nearly five hours of remarks" while Clinton averaged one falsehood every twelve minutes. "

" All four of the newsrooms distinguished between the kind of misstatements Clinton makes and the kind Trump makes.

"Clinton has made her share of questionable claims," the Post said, but Trump "at times seems uniquely undeterred by facts." "

Meanwhile, i have a nicely unique viewpoint on the presidential candidates from my friend.

He wants Trump to win.

Not because he´s better, but because while he is likely to start a few wars by arrogance, stupidity and accident (not to mention probably make a HUGE mess overall), he expects Clinton to march onwards with current moves and intentionally provoke a "short victorious war" with Russia, something he really would prefer to not happen, of course i agree with him in that.

And considering how much tanks and crap USA has moved to Romania, Ukraine and thereabouts in the last 6 months, i´m inclined to agree with him.

Seriously folks, if you´re trying to be sneaky and keeping it officially quiet, hauling tanks en masse on uncovered railroad cars straight through Germany in broad daylight is NOT the way to do it.

On the other hand, Russia is rooting for Trump so they can make "deals" with him to re-take eastern Europe and re-establish the Soviet Union as a Putin dictatorship. The DNC e-mail leaks came from Russian hackers. Ivanka (aka Trumpy Boo Boo) went on holiday with Putin's girlfriend. Trump even tried to tell us that Russia had not invaded Ukraine (they had, but his zombie army would believe him if he said that Abraham Lincoln was an illegal Mexican immigrant). He also wants us out of NATO, so we'd have an excuse to sit on our butts while Putin takes over the Balkan countries. And I still think Melania is Putin's agent-in-place.

That´s amazingly stupid considering how USA is the single greatest beneficiary from NATO.

dscott8 wrote:so we'd have an excuse to sit on our butts while Putin takes over the Balkan countries

In case you haven´t noticed, Putin has not shown any interest in "taking over" anywhere.
And definitely NOT the Balkans! And really, it was NATO that decided in the Balkan that people in regions had the right to decide who they wanted to belong to. Of course, when South Ossetia and Crimea among others tried the same, then NATO suddenly did a 180 turn.

Oh and in case you didn´t know, South Ossetia and Crimea both tried to talk up the possibility of becoming part of Russia, and Putin was the one who rejected them.
Yeah, such a take over guy...

dscott8 wrote:Trump even tried to tell us that Russia had not invaded Ukraine (they had

Not according to NATO and UNs rulings about Yugoslavia, if you´re talking about Crimea.
If something else, eh, just NO. If Russia actually invaded Ukraine, it would be 90% over ridiculously fast, because Ukraine has one of THE suckiest armies in Europe, hell, in the WORLD, add to that, that about a third of the population refuses to fight against Russia because they have relatives there, eh yeah, one of the biggest curbstomps ever would have been the result.

Or maybe they´re just trying to return the favour of USAs hostile and offensive operations around Russia in the last decade?

Retake eastern Europe? Seriously? Do you actually believe that? Sorry, but only an idiot tries to equate Russia with USSR.
Sadly, there´s hordes of idiots screaming that propaganda garbage lately.

It´s US ex-officials writing books about how Russia must be surrounded by a "percolating violence" to ensure USAs dominance of the world. The opposite isn´t happening.
