Sigh. The absolute majority is a 2/3-3/4 of population. Not 52% vs 48%. ------------------------------

75% of the population were in favour of the Senate hearing witnesses and examining evidence, and yet, that didn't happen, because the GOP is full of cowards who are afraid that breaking with Trump would put a premature end to their current position of power. As long as Mitch McConnell holds control over the Senate, there was no chance of an impeachment vote succeeding, no matter how supported by evidence the charges are. This wasn't the democrats messing up the timing. This was the GOP proudly proclaiming that they think that the President is above the law. |

There is a difference between 75% of the population wanting to follow procedure, and 75% wanting president out. The impeachment, as I mentioned before, is NOT about justice; it is about damage control. If impeachment would be about justice, then all former presidents of USA still alive would be in prison for their numerous crimes. This is, that Founding Fathers perfectly understood, that they live in imperfect world. And that it is utterly impossible to run a nation with strict adherense to the letter or even spirit of law. So, they were more worried about having a procedure to remove president whose actions are disliked by an absolute majority of the population, rather than a procedure to establish did he actually break the law or no.
Essentially yes.
Problem is, it is not about the law. It's about efficiency. 48% of Americans considered Trump efficient enough to stay. ------------------------------

No. In a two option poll an absolute majority is 50.01% In a three, or more, it's where one option outpolls the other options combined. Very few people were undecided on this topic. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Heard it here first, folks: According to known legal scholar and man of moral integrity smr, crimes should only be crimes if a majority of the population does not like the criminal.

I don't know about you, but unlike our american friends I do still live in a country where "rule of law" is a thing. |

I like your new signature line... Don - When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.
