Then when I finished the last book about the situation in Siddermark, the parallel with our present situation was unmistakeable. The book left Siddermark stewing in its own juices. I hope that the same doesn't happen to us.

Normally a post like this should go in a thread within the Safehold forum, rather than the Rules & Information thread that is a part of all the forums. Also if you get too political, you should post in the Politics sub-forum that can be found in the Free-Range Topics forum.

However, welcome to the forums; he has written many books, so there is still a lot to enjoy.

A Question for the forum:
Is there something that indicates that a post is being edited? When I pointed out that a wedge WOULD work in hyperspace, in the absence of a gravity wall, fifteen minutes after the post was made; did I commit a social blunder? I am not aware of any automatic refresh and when I decide to reply with a quote I have my own copy and only get a notification if something has changed (that is posted) when I press submit.

Something weird is going on. This topic is linked to all of the forums (under "Announcements"). If I select page 27 directly, I get a "General Error" message. If I select page 26, I get page 26 and then go to page 27 from there with no problem.

If someone has read your post and you edit it afterwards it'll add a line at the bottom of the post, ex "Last edited by Joat42 on 2025-07-25 12:00, edited 1 times in total". If no one has read your post that line wont show up.

That is not correct, the line about times edited is only added once the post being changed is no longer the last post in the thread. People could be constantly reading as you make multiple changes and no notice is given. But once a later post is added, then each change submitted increments the change counter.

In a similar case, when you edit the last post in a thread, then you are also offered the chance to delete that post. Once another post is added then a deletion can no longer be made. So the cleanest way to treat a double entry (the posting was slow so submit was pressed twice), is to delete the end post and then ensure the remaining post has everything wanted (perhaps by copying the end post to a text file before deleting).
