That's basically my point. It's possible, but probable? It's pretty doubtful. I'd also press that the (albeit incredibly unwilling) daughter colony of Mesa definitely has a very large mix of different types of people. Herlander Simoes has blonde hair and hazel eyes, which is a fairly Nordic set of features, and Jack McBryde is a ginger of probably Irish descent. Albrecht Detweiler is a direct clone of his ancestor, and he has very Germanic looks, as one would expect from the name (I'm going by what's on the Wiki, which is from one of the French covers. Can we get these?!) Definitely no Asiatic influence there.

Putin won't be around forever.
That leaves the choices "Russia," "Ukraine,"
or "Independence."

There is also the interesting question -
do Russian speakers necessarily want to be part of
Putin's Russia?

When he leaves, what do you suppose are the odds his replacement will behave in a significantly different way?

In Honorverse terms, one of the Mandarins died and has been replaced. Let's suppose a couple more have Mesan nannie problems. Do you really think that would change the lives of the typical resident of an OFS protectorate?

What do the "Russians" in the Crimea suppose that
the odds are?
And what do we mean by "Significantly?"
Does a lesser degree of energy count? 3-1 on that.
There are many possible differences.
I'll give 3-2 that I'll dislike the replacement "less."

Hello.
I'm from Ukraine.
Crimea is already invaded by russian forces. And russian forces are concentrating all over eastern border of my contry.
Invaders are wearing unmarked uniform, but its obivious from their (exclusive, used only by russian forces)weapons and equipment that they are russist.

Sorry for my bad english. Not my native language, you understand.

It seems a lot like a repeat of georgia 2008, but the ukrainian forces are refusing to fire the first shot despite provocations.

I know there have been several people saying that Albrecht is a clone of his ancestor, but there is not only no evidence of that, what textev we have says exactly the opposite: the Detweiller line is one of the most "improved" lines around. The fact that Albrecht decided to have his "children" be his clones not only suggests a certain amount of hubristic narcissism on his part, it also suggests that the Long Range Planning board might agree with him, since they didn't insist on additional "improvements" in the next generation. Or at least didn't insist strongly enough to avoid being overruled.

We do understand. Your English is completely comprehensible. :) I could try something in another language but it might make a native speaker ill. Long ago I spoke fluent German. Long ago.

The parallels to Czechoslovakia vs Germany in the 30s are scary, complete with ethnic claims...Sudetenland etc. The world did a lot of hand wringing then, a lot of cry in our beer. What now? I do not know.

Beowulf though does seem more like, oh, France leaving the EU after the EU is several centuries old. Thing is... is the League too rotten to actually stop them? I say yes. It is actually an old log that appears sound... until you kick it, then it shatters because it is rotted out inside.

Is it me or does Dear Albrecht look like the lead in a bad Fu Manchu mystery flick? Sorry, I could not resist. So... possibly he is Asian...rather like the Andermanni who are a mix of what? Prussian and Chinese? Something like that. Though what group would want to claim His Creepiness? No one sane.

The world is watching and very much thinking of your people - for whatever that is worth. I am sorry that we aren't doing more for you guys.

No one is likely to forget this Krim invasion anytime soon.

It is probably not a lot of consolation but I am pretty sure Russia will find out such things have long-term consequences.
