As each day passes it looks less likely that we'll ever know what actually happened. So what do you think happened?

You discounted something really simple:

Seems someone's in favor of hijacking.

Added. But adding it erased the previous votes. Sorry, I'm new to the poll creation tool.

To be honest I am having trouble watching the news lately due in large part to this.

After watching "unbiased" public television anchors trying to get experts to voice an opinion. For all that has been released they could have fallen in to a microscopic, short lived, black hole or whatever.

It is a prime example of sensationalism at its very worst. Just a bunch of idiots showing their arse on tv and tryig to get others to do the same. I miss "In Search of ..."

Not saying you should include it but other should have been "no freaking idea" or maybe any of the above.

Given the Black Box transponder and sonar ping emitter, it is extremely unlikely that evidence of a crash would remain undetected for over a week. The plane landed somewhere.

The radar track and subsequent satellite pings leave no doubt that the plane was still flying and way off course an hour after the last verbal contact with the co-pilot.

The pilot is an islamicist and political radical who was incensed that his political hero had been convicted for sodomizing a male aide. He actually attended the sentencing hearing hours before the flight.

If this had been intended to be a repeat of 9-11, the plane would have impacted a tower, probabably the twin towers in Kuala Lampur (my spelling is no doubt wrong).

There were two passengers with stolen passports who might have been involved.

There have been no ransom demands, so this was not a hijacking for hostages.

The plane has landed somewhere and is being prepared to be used for something.

My guess it is being loaded with 100 tons od explosives for use against a hard target. Three Gorges Dam would be spectacularly lethal.

Alternatively, someone will use it to deliver a primitive nuke.
