Books to read while we all are waiting for the Next Safehold book.
I love David's writing don't get me wrong it is just it is going to be Nov of 2015 before the Publisher releases Safehold Hells Foundation Quiver. So in the mean time..... The author T.I.Wade's Series America One America One 1 One Man's Dream America One 2 The Launch America One 3 The Odyssey Begins America One 4 Return to Earth America One 5 NextGen America One 6 Nextgen II America One 7 War of the Worlds T.I. is going to be putting out another book in Feb,2015 This is a great set of books. The author is hoping that there will be enough interest in this series that he can get it made into a TV series. |

I recommend the "Wearing The Cape" series by Marion G Harmon. It is completely different from Safehold (thus no real chance of confusing the two series in your mind) and posits the question - what would happen if Superheroes existed?
The story itself is told by the main character as she gains powers due to a terrorist incident and discovers that being a hero is far more complex than she originally assumed. If you want an overview, it has a TVTropes page, but beware spoilers. ~~~~~~

That reminds me of the 1979 made for TV movie "Salvage 1", starring Andy Griffith.
Wikipedia it... I had forgotten it actually DID make it to a 16 episode TV series. It probably stinks by today's standards. ERR . =====

It did two seasons. Thankfully they didn't have many episodes per season. Not like Gunsmoke (1955-75) with 635 episodes total. 38 or 39 episodes per season were standard back then. |

Well two seasons is somewhat of a stretch. It only broadcast two shows the second season before it was cancelled - that really isn't a season. ========================

You forgot Terry Pratchett. I'd also add David Eddings (for the fantasy-buffs). ~~~~~~

I can always reach back and pickup almost any Heinlein, Juveniles or later. Just re-read "Beyond This Horizon", serialized in 1942 and for an SF more than 70+ years old, shows very little if any age! -----

I plagiarize somewhat. Outlines in a composition tablet. Someone asked about a second Ark project for Safehold. Several authors use a travelgate or Stargate. ER Burroughs- John Carter on Mars has one in an Arizona cave. Let's extend the link, and have additional transportation sites throughout the world. One on Long Island in a certain Half-Blood camp. Maybe another in the Elf kitchens of Hogwarts. Perhaps a noble space race saving animals and forgoing the humans? The cave of The Forty Thieves? You get the idea. Oh, it works really great if you're telling stories to children. They really contribute their own spin. "No, that's all wrong. Ben wouldn't..." |
