One of my favorite tv shows "To Catch a Predator," features men caught trying to solicit sex from a minor. Yet, the female used to elicit the soliciting is very much of age. So, even though the guy wasn't aware, he was soliciting an adult, so how can he be charged with soliciting a minor???

The same with "Cops." Drug dealers caught selling fake drugs carry the same penalty as if the drugs were real??? WTF!

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

And what about "Bait Car?"

The cops arrange for a car to be left on a busy street with keys left in the ignition to be stolen.

Yet, when a passerby accommodates them, they are arrested for doing exactly what the cops wanted them to do. Just goes to show that you really can't help out law enforcement.

Don't even get me started on prostitution entrapment. A fake prostitute pretends to be in the market to sell sex. A guy gets arrested for taking the hook to buy sex that wasn't being sold, from a woman that's pretending to sell.

Why isn't it illegal for the officer to put it out there?

Why are serial rapists caught and let out on bail to do what society and law enforcement knows they're going to do? Of course they want to have as much sex as they can before sentencing.

And after they complete their sentence we let serial rapists and sex offenders out again, to do what we know they're going to do ... again.

WHY ISN'T THAT A CRIME?!!!

The stupidest question in all of the land is when an officer asks a criminal "Why did you run?" How do you respond to such ignorance?

"Because I thought you were too full of doughnuts to give chase?"

"Because I wanted to get caught?"

And what about "Is there anything in the vehicle I should know about?"

"Sure officer. An unregistered murder weapon in the glove compartment. A pound of illegal drugs under the seat. And a dead body in the trunk."

That was the English Civil War.
It was sooo civil, that if a fortified house was defended
by a woman commander, the attackers would apologize and
move on the next house.
Except once, when the Royalist Army did storm and take
a castle held by a Parliament Lady. It is said that that
Uncivil Act was why the Royalists lost the war.

An acquaintance's sentiments
In many states one has to be separated and living apart for a year before being granted a divorce.

If you are petitioning for a divorce due to incurable insanity, it can take longer based on the fact that you must prove that spouse is insane and thereby testimony from medical professionals may be required.

But you're free to marry after just meeting her moments ago.

What if I'm the one gone insane since marrying the bitch?

A lifeguard drowning while saving a swimmer is ironic, tragic, and heroic.

It's called intent. The person intended to buy a prostitute (of age or under aged) or steal a car or sell fake drugs. That the prostitute was a female cop in disguise isn't relevant as long as the perp actually thought he/she was buying a prostitute. The same thing with the car. An honest person would have left the vehicle alone. A dishonest person would be the one to steal it. That it's bait is irrelevant since if it had not been bait and just a regular vehicle the owner forgot to take the keys out of, the perp would have tried to steal it too. The same with the drug dealer selling fake drugs (knowingly or not), his intent is to sell drugs (fake or not) and the buyers think they are getting real drugs. Intent is the key on both sides.

The basic fact is they are caught in the act of buying a prostitute/stealing a vehicle, selling drugs.

Yea yea. One of my brothers is a police chief, and he tells me the exact same thing. I tell him it's bullshit.

And in most of those cases, if you can afford a really good lawyer, you will walk. Why?

Bullshit smells!
