I might have agreed with you at one time, but being a confirmed fan of "Schlock Mercenary", a web-comic that has now lasted 15 years and counting, comics can be SF. As for hard-copies, the two Honor Harrington series (one a stand-alone tale not adapted from the books) are pretty good.
