Okay, so I have bought an indecent number of ebooks from Baen over the years, which I've always read on either a PC or a laptop before. However, I switched to an Android-operated tablet a while back, for which I've downloaded the Kindle-for-Android reading app, but when I downloaded the .mobi-format copies of my books from Baen, my app told me that it's an unsupported format. What do I do? Please help!

Download Calibre. That will allow you to convert any DRM-free eBook into the .AZW3 format your Kindle App is probably looking for, or convert them to some other format your tablet can read natively (.epub? or ,PDF usually.) .
. . Answers! I got lots of answers! (Now if I could just find the right questions.) |

I would recommend epub and using Aldiko as the reader app. |

Looks good in the App Store blurb. I don't need it as I've got an actual Kindle Fire, but I'll keep it in mind to recommend for others. .

I just download them in HTML and read them anywhere.

Thanks guys. I'm not the most tech savvy person, so you were a great help.

Calibre lets you convert to any format easily. I've used Moon+ Reader on my Android phone for years, it works quite well.

Darn tootin.' No fuss, no bother, readily available. And it looks better to me. And is more functional. And I've tried all of the book readers, some are ok. But HTML is better. Since android tablets came along, I don't see how much more expensive ereaders are still afloat, and they don't readily read HTML or pdf or... Give it the hammer, unless you have time to waste tinkering. By the way, you don't have to download and install any program to convert. Which would be a problem unless you have a windows machine. There are sites that allow you to do it online for free if you're in a pinch. I had an android that also did it - though limited formats. Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |
