I have an opportunity to bid on a hardcover version of a book called "Ship: The Epic Story of Maritime Adventure".

I understand that its author Brian Lavery, is with the Smithsonian's National Marine Museum, or at least the book is published under their label.

After fees, etc., the cost I'm willing to pay would end up being around $8.50.

Has anyone here seen this book, and formed any opinions about it?
As my "Handle" indicates, I tend to Re-read DW's books, in particular Safehold and Honorverse, where the understanding of how a sailing ship is handled could be of some use.

I can't give you a recommendation on the book itself, but anything by Brian Lavery is worth reading:

He's Curator Emeritus at the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich.

In a similar vein, I'd also recommend anything by Andrew Lambert.

Hope that helps,

Mike. :)
