I just thought I'd put this topic here for completeness sake. David has published three books concerning those massive and often misunderstood fighting machines, the Bolo's. From the experimental Bolo Unit 23/B-0075-NKE who fell in love with her commander and was loyal to him even though it cost her her life, to SONY the badly out of date machine that found that honor was more than simply obeying orders. David has spun the tales of these machines in some of his best writing in his books Bolo, Old Soldiers, and Road to Damascus which rival and depth and feeling which rival anything he has written in any of his other works.

David has the ability to help us relate to 25,000 tons of metal roving through a universe discovering new things about themselves and humanity and doing something else, making us care about massive machines designed solely for war and destruction and yet, surprisingly human for all of that.

I know that David is probably today focused on his main titles these days, but I guess I can dream that maybe there will someday be another book about those flintsteel sentinels of all humanity. And for those of you who haven't read these works, please do, its not something you're going to regret.

I also have probably read most of Keith's stuff, but I have NOT read David's 3 novels and now look forward in doing so.

Possible future silly universe crossings? "Bolos vs. Berserkers!" "Bolos vs. Borg!" "Bolos vs Bugs!" HB of CJ (old coot) :)

Now the Bolos vs. Berserkers would be a good read!

If you don't mind fanfiction, you can find some more Bolo stories (obviously non-canon) here and some crossovers just here.

Or you could try and write your own.

Out of that fanfiction page,

Even though it's not complete, Left Behind: The Forgotten Bolo is a good read!

Thanks for the link!
