45 years ago, an English teacher wrote 6 lines on a blackboard and challenged the class to come up with a 7th. After a week, we had still not come up with a 7th. The 6 lines he had written down were the 6 plots known to the Greeks at the time of Plato. Every story ever written is one of those 6 plots with the "serial numbers" filed off. It is simply a matter of details and writing ability after that. We are fortunate enough to have many writers over the course of the last 2 millennia who are good at details.
