I have read all of the Honorverse books including manticore ascendant series. Now I'm in need of recommendations for great military science fiction novels. PS I'm new to the genre

Or for that matter, the Dahak Series by David Weber also Empire from the Ashes.

It's an omnibus containing: Mutineers Moon, The Armageddon Inheritance and Heirs to the Empire.

definitely empire from the ashes, then there is In Fury Born or the Bolo books, or apocalypse troll or the prince roger books with john ringo

Also gonna throw out there David Drake's RCN series (starts with With the Lightnings) and Christopher G. Nuttall's Angel in the Whirlwind series (starts with The Oncoming Storm), and though I haven't read it, Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga has been bandied about as worth a read as well.

I can also heartily recommend RFC's own Safehold series, despite the hefty dose of historical fantasy injected into the premise - don't let that put you off, as it's a truly excellent series in its own right and definitely worth a read if you enjoy His Devilish Celeryness' works.

David Drake's Hammers Slammers

S & M Sterling's Draka series.

Jerry Pournelle's CoDominum series.
Might condense it down to THE PRINCE with S & M Sterling's.

Starship Troopers by Heinlien.
I mean the book, not the movie.
The only good scenes in the movie were the shower scene and the propaganda newsreel where the humans​ were high voltage anal probing the aliens..

I disagree about the Heinlein film. Yes, I liked the shower scene (Go Dina Meyer) but I thought it was in the spirit of Heinlein.

More adult than the book which was originally written for boys (he wrote a lot of the stories the books were based on for Boy's Life, the more or less official magazine of the Boy Scouts).
Just about no women back in the 1950's army.

And things have to be modernized for new generations. Good action also.

By the way, things like mixed showers, etc. might be very useful in terms of the modern military assuming good birth control.

Note that men and women crew members on ships roomed together. I recall that bit from Honor Among Enemies.

All the above are great choices.

If you want a series that is a little less well known, I strongly recommend Rick Shelley's Dirigent Mercenary Corps series. Six books in the series. First book is Officer Cadet.

The Forever War by Joe Haldeman

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

All of the Falkenberg's Legion yarns by Jerry Pournelle, including the books he wrote with S.M. Stirling. Top it off by reading The Mote in God's Eye by Niven and Pournelle which might not be categorized as pure military SF but is something that everyone should read (it takes place in the same universe as Falkenberg's Legion).

The Man-Kzin Wars series.

For something new, Marko Kloos' Frontlines series.

if you want weber- esqe but don't have time for one of RFC brilliant but long books try Glynn Stewart, most anything is good but I always suggest that you start with "the Terran Privateer".
