When I was a kid (well, okay, when I was in high school), we used to play this game. Someone writes out a fragment of a song - usually but not always four lines - and someone else tries to guess what character or relationship the first person picked the song for.
So, for instance, I might post: Will you stay with me, will you be my love Upon the fields of barley? We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky As we lie in fields of gold... And someone else might reply to the post with: "Oh, I know! That one is for Javier and Eloise!" And then the person who replied would write out their own song lyrics. Anyone interested? If so, have at ye! ~*~

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

Pretty much the entire Grand Alliance could be chanting that song in unison, actually, but... Honor Harrington? Restless hearts Sleep alone tonight Sending all my love Along the wire... ~*~

You got it. But, yes, it could represent many situations from Basilisk Station to Pavel Young, to Randy Steilman, to Iris Babcock to ... Now, could you be whistling about Eloise and Javier everytime he hypers out of system? Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

It is eerily applicable to Eloise and Javier, isn't it? (Like, oh, every other song I hear. Go figure.) But it's actually Aivars and Sinead. I know, I know, who'd have expected me to kick this off with them, right? ~*~

Tom Theisman Ashes of Victory? Walk my way And a thousand violins begin to play Or it might be the sound of your hello That music I hear I get misty the moment you're near... ~*~

Tom, correct again. I'm grinning. This has to be Estelle's goo goo eyes for Khumalo? Ok, although another easy one. Don't care, can't resist ...

Almost! It's actually Khumalo's goo goo eyes for Estelle. (Augustus Khumalo is a goddamn sap when he's in love. You just know he would be.)
SHANNON!!!! Heaven bend to take my hand Nowhere left to turn I'm lost to those I thought were friends To everyone I know Oh they turn their heads embarassed Pretend that they don't see But it's one missed step One slip before you know it And there doesn't seem a way to be redeemed... ~*~

Although, the holidays, full-blast karaoke, Taylor Swift, my sisters, nieces, and their friends, has this ditty running an endless loop in my head. Son, your mother says I have to hang you.
