Is there a thread for this series or it the subject to juvenile?
Having finished the three books that are in the series I find it interesting that during Stephanie's time the opposition was fighting to keep the treecat from being listed as sentinent when they had a pretty good idea the treecats communicated mind to mind. Jump forward to Honor Harrington time period and everyone seems to have forgotten this. Also the Treecat series especially in third book reminded me alot of the Erin Hunter Warrior cat series with one clan of cats always at war with another clan over territory. Just my thoughts, anyone else? |

That tree cats are functioning telepaths was canonically hidden by Stephanie and successors. The families that involved with tree cats and the Rangers know. But for several centuries they kept it hidden with a lot of help from the tree cat's own strategy.
The realism of this does not matter: it's canon! |

There's no specific thread for it, but it definitely is not too juvenile to discuss! There have been several threads on the Star Kingdom books.
Yes, people have indeed mostly forgotten the early debates over the intelligence of treecats. In part that is because treecats have been around for so long, now. True, until recently, few people had seen a treecat even on holovid except for those accompanying certain celebrities. But the basic rights of treecats have been set in law for many generations. It's ancient history by now. How many people today remember the details of the debate over counting slaves as 3/5 of a person for the purposes of congressional representation? Some might vaguely remember something from school about it, but only historians and hobbyists will remember much more. --------------------------------------------

And even fewer understand that the 3/5 s of a person stipulation was intended to limit the political power of slave states and thus set the stage for abolition.
