To End in Fire FIGHT THE WAR AFTER THE WAR The huge, authoritarian Solarian League lies in defeat, crushed by the Grand Alliance of Manticore, Haven, and Grayson. Yet the League is the most economically powerful human star nation in existence, and many League citizens deeply resent the fashion in which their star nation has been humbled. But there is an ongoing conspiracy far more dangerous than the bitterness of Solarian League defeat. Defeated Solarians and agents of the victorious Alliance must join forces to bring that conspiracy’s deed to light. For the Mesan Alignment is still insidiously working toward the enslavement of humanity. Now is the time to destroy this ancient evil. Now is the time to fight the final battle and see victory through—once and for all! To End in Fire sounds like a thrilling conclusion to the saga. The Alliance and Solarians teaming up to face a hidden menace is bound to be intense. |

It is thrilling, but not a conclusion. More to come. |

To End in Fire ANTI-WAR AFTER THE WAR The massive, tyrannical Solarian Alliance is in defeat, crushed by the Great Alliance of Manticore, Haven, and Grayson. However, the Alliance is the most economically powerful human star nation in existence, and many Alliance citizens are deeply angry at the way their star nation has been brought down. But there is a conspiracy afoot that is far more dangerous than the bitterness of the Solarian Alliance's defeat. The defeated Solarians and the victorious Alliance's spies must join forces to bring the plot to light. For the Mesan Alliance is still working in secret to enslave humanity. Now is the time to destroy this ancient evil. Now is the time to fight the final battle and witness victory—once and for all! Sign up to be notified of all eARC releases (including this one) on the Baen's Bar eARC Announcements forum here. Or check out the Baen.com homepage for updates. To End in Fire sounds like a thrilling conclusion to a long story. The alliance and Solarians' cooperation to face the potential threat will certainly be intense. I would like to find more information about this war but it seems like it's been too long for there to be much concrete material. I would be grateful if someone could provide me with a more detailed article or link. |

There wasn't really a "war" - just a single battle. The GA used Intel and active scouting to find a Planet hitherto not mentioned - Galton. Galton was the Mesan Alignment's original bolthole. It was populated by a clone population under a "fascist" government and built as an industrial powerhouse. The population was artificially whipped up to a fever pitch war mindset, had filled their system with massive defenses, and a fleet of >50 SDs, including 7+ podnaughts. This had been the system that built the Cataphracts used in the strikes on Manticore and Torch. In a single battle, a fleet under Honor fielding over 200 GA SDs, attacked Galton from the hyperlimit, (who admitted freely who they were), and reduced their defenses over several days, while Galton threw several previously unseen weapons at them, doing minor damage (overall) to the fleet. Once Galton surrendered, the defenders threw a sneak attack at the GA fleet from "Civilian" platforms, in an attempt to force Honor to overreact and slaughter millions of civilians in response. She didn't fall for it and eventually took control of the system. The Mesan Alignment @ Darius had assets watching the events at Galton, (whose population did not know about Darius), pulled in their spurs and waited for the next act as they built their spider drive fleet. Obviously, I'm leaving out lots of data and subplots. But War at the scale of the previous books it was not. And... it's only tht end for now... ******
RFC said "refitting a Beowulfan SD to Manticoran standards would be just as difficult as refitting a standard SLN SD to those standards. In other words, it would be cheaper and faster to build new ships." |

Forgive my confusion but that announcement sounded like a serial releases of sections of the snippets of the book for "To End In Fire". The book was released its completed form. I did not take that as the 1st book in a separate story line sub-plot as was done with Storm from the Shadows. or Crown of Slaves.
