Are you trying to tell me women don't have that much influence over men? Especially young, single men?

Even I remember that much from high school.

In our 20's, my Brother in law was the lead singer in a popular cover band in our city. Some friends of mine and I went out to hear him and harrassed him during a break for not playing much classic rock, but only the newer, shallow popish tunes.

And he explained the Theory of Dance Club economics to us: Play the songs the girls want to dance to. If the Girls come, the boys will follow. The boys buy drinks, the Bar makes money. The Bar then pays the Band.

The better the dance music, the more Girls. The more Girls, the more Boys. The more Boys, The more the Bar makes money. The more the Bar makes money, the more the Bar pays the Band. - So we're not going to hear any Zepplin.

Remember, I was talking to a teenage girl (15 if I remember correctly), so The Theory of Bar Economics had to be translated into something approaching her age group. Of course this theory is a good working model for post-high school life and I am sure she understands it already.

No, the Theory of Bar economics is completely different :D

This is Dance Club Economics - the Boys might be 21 and over, but the Girls always have a strange tendency to be a few years younger than that (one of the strange correlaries of the Theory).

Part of the problem is that Billings is not big enough to support a dance club for teenagers. All the dance floors are in bars. And since the penalty for serving a minor is the automatic lose of the establishments liqueur license, the minors don't do much dancing.

As to the dance clubs, the over twenty one crowd wouldn't go unless there was alcohol and the under twenty ones wouldn't pay a cover charge to get in. Not even for live music. So, the places couldn't stay in business.

I don't like dance music. This theory sucks! :x

Seriously though, if the theory is that if more girls are involved there will be more boys who want to join in too is totally broken. Apparently I'm scary to boys. At least some of them anyway.

Boys! If I want to join in your conversation about video games or superheroes or something it doesn't make me a scary alien who's out to get you! I really don't bite! I really do like science fiction and fantasy books! Aaargh! :x :x

Heck, even at jiu jitsu half the boys seem like they're scared of me. If I really am a scary alien who's out to get you then you're actually allowed to choke me silly!

Boys suck. Rant over! :D

Also, bump! Fill in the survey and add your location to your profile new peoples!

Heh. sounds like my sister. :) although they have a right to be scared of her, as she isnt afraid to use force against them.... She's one of the smartest in her year, but also does ballet, acrobatics, dragonboating, football(soccer), drama, plays music, and has a group of likeminded friends. I'M scared of her at times, and I have aa foot and a half, 20 kilos, and a black belt over her....

Hopefully someday the right one will show up. And he won't be scared at all. He'll love how you are and love you and like you and respect you and think all the twits are idiots... and he'll be right. :D

I found mine 43 years ago. And it is still lovely all these many decades later. And, yes, I used to scare the twits too...and probably still do. Think of it as an anti-twit filter. You don't want that sort anyhow. They'd drive you nuts.

The thing to remember about teenage boys. They are afraid of teenage girls. They don't know how to act or talk to them without saying something wrong. They are still learning their way around the world just like you. Give them time, ignore the twits and look for the ones who actually want to talk to you. Eventually, you will find somebody worthwhile; you just haven't met him yet.

Took me around a year to realise I liked my girlfriend and build up the courage to ask her out. not for lack of her dropping hints that she liked me either. Us guys can be slow sometimes....

It would be nice also if the newcomers voted for either/or both of the series that they read.

Every time I bring this thread forward, a couple of middies add their location and vote in the poll. Then a couple of the old salts actually admit that they aren't homeless and put down their home location. So far, about 6% of the total number of registered users have voted, but it is a very high percentage of the regular posters.

For those who are interested in where they are in the ranks:

User Control Panel > Usergroups (in the right-hand menu choices) > Registered Users > Rank

It is possible to rearrange the information on the page in several ways.

Time to bring this forward so the new people know where it is.
