Culturally speaking, it would make sense - many conservative Christian denominations still do.

This question has absolutely nothing to do with my plans to turn up to HonorCon 2018 in an Honor-esque Grayson gown in Havenite colors. Nothing at all.

Neither the pictures nor the textev show Honor as covering her hair when she's wearing formal Grayson attire. Let's not get into what Paul was actually talking about in I Corinthians, or whether the Grayson version of the scriptures even includes that passage. The latter is something that RFC would have to clarify.

Honor isn't a member of the Church of Humanity Unchained, though. I'm not planning to cosplay Honor, I'm planning to cosplay a Grayson woman who's adopted the Honor-fied simpler Grayson gowns. The question's relevant to that, not to whether or not Honor does.

I'm not here to debate whether or not women should, I just want to know whether Grayson women do, and if so, how.

The closest thing I can think of that is textev that refers to Grayson female head covering is hats. Honor adopted that custom with a wide-brimmed hat that has the right (left?) brim curved up and attached(?) to the side to allow clearance for Nimitz to sit. I believe it resembles the Aussie hats seen in the second image here: http://www.robertsshoestore.com/hats.htm

...but with a Harrington green ribbon around the body (or whatever that main part is called) of the hat and dangling down her back. Obviously, that is a hat for men, but you might be able to find a version for women (if you decide to go the hat route).

With that sort of textev, I would say that Grayson women do not cover their hair/heads as part of their religion, but wear hats as a part of fashion. My guess would be that the hats are just as extravagant as their dresses, but since you are going for a more understated, Honor-like look, you might be able to get away with one like in the image.

IMO, if Grayson women were required to wear head-covering, DW would have specifically mentioned it.

Have they ever spoken to each other about their Beasts ??

I suspect that they have, the relationship between them is, in its own way, even deeper than the one we see between Honor and her mother.

If I had to guess (and that is all I can do), I further suspect that Honor is the only person (not even Allison) to know the whole story of Clematis.

IMHO as always. YMMV.

Here's where it is specifically mentioned that Grayson women traditionally cover their hair in the presence of men (the scene is from the Honor's arriving at the dinner party with the Protector):
The Honor of the Queen, Chapter 20 wrote:She paused, tall and erect in her black-and-gold uniform with the snarling, scarlet-and-gold Manticore shoulder patch, and removed her white beret. Mayhew recognized the gesture of respect, but his Security men exchanged grimaces behind her as she bared her short, curly mop of close-cropped hair. Grayson women were spared the veils of their Masadan sisters, but none of them would have dared wear trousers in public, and tradition still forbade uncovered female heads in the presence of men. Besides, no Grayson woman would ever cut her hair so short.
Boldface is my emphasis.

It remains to be seen if the tradition will continue, after everything that has happened on Grayson since that dinner party.

Hi Saber964,

If it hasn't been built yet. ;)

Since it will take a couple years before Sag-C's are built again, the main question might be what rank Helen will be by then. :D 8-)

Babies? Why aren't there more babies? Does not anyone believe in putting buns in the oven? Even with Honor it was an accident. This prolong thing gives too much extra time to put off having children. The Honorverse needs more babies. Babcock and Harkness should be primed for a little ass kicking baby girl by now. Cachat and Thandi - whatever nature will deliver unto those two. And Helga Boltitz and Gwen Archer would make a lovely bubble of joy. Just like my almost mother-in-law, where are the babies? Especially since tubing is so popular and akin to ordering a new edition.

I certainly hope Honor never tells Raoul he was an accident.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

How about Berry and Hugh, or Roger and Rivka, or Anton and Cathy, or Kevin and Ginny
