We have crossed the surly bonds of space to find you.
We shall kill you too dead for hell. One man dreamed of peace. His peace shall begin now, with your nightmare. We shall set fire even unto your ashes. But you will never be forgotten For they will burn in our hearts forever. Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

Protector Benjamin Mayhew or Abigail Hearns:
Over the centuries you have inflicted on us your test of deceit, murder and war in an attempt to destroy the foundation and freedom of our unchained humanity. Today, unless you immediately and unconditionally surrender, we shall bring our test to you. (more of what I had in mind) -

It was determined before leaving the Haven system that a single representative from each Alliance government shall be predisposed to speak to the accused of Darius. One of the most profound has come from Samantha. Translated over comms...

Cthia, minor nit, decimate means 1 in 10, annihilated would be more appropriate .

Annihilate is inappropriate, as there was at least a single survivor of the Black Rock clan, IIRC. annihilate VERB destroy utterly; obliterate: Whereas... decimate VERB 1.kill, destroy, or remove a large percentage or part of: "the project would decimate the fragile wetland wilderness." Is a tad bit more accurate reporting. You are considering the historical, secondary meaning. Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. How about:
"We have come to arrest Albrecht Detweiller and the rest of the inner core of the Mesan Alignment to stand trial for aggravated crimes against humanity. Hand them over and stand down your weaponry, and nobody needs to get hurt. "If you don't, may God have mercy on your souls, for I most assuredly will not." |

Without snipping the appropriate bits, I know who I want to be in command of Home Fleet while the other admirals get to go play. He's had a major role in commanding the forces that saved a few folk's keister(s) so that those folks could win battles later in the same book(s), but isn't one of the thought of regulars...
I'll start by saying that I think Admiral Higgins deserves the opportunity to be command of one of the mobile fleets, finally getting to kick some a-- of folks who really really deserve it. Same with Genevieve Chin, who has been on the s--- end of the stick through no fault of her own a couple of times. So in my book he's not available to take the call. Michel Reynaud, of ACS. Deserved promotion to Full Admiral and an opportunity to be close in and take care of his home planets. Thoughts? ---------------------
All my posts are YMMV, IMHO, and welcoming polite discussion, extension, and rebuttal. This is the HonorVerse, after all |

Try again. Despite the military ranks, ACS is a civilian organisation, entirely separate from the RMN. Reynaud has never commanded a warship, let alone a fleet. |
