The problem would still exist, I think, except that the 'ordinary' citizens would be blaming the 'cats rather than the government - assuming they believed that the 'cats were behind it in the first place.

Hi Dafmeister,

I wouldn't be surprised if Samantha, knowing what a friend of Honor Stacy is, might decide to put her mind glow on the the list, with her personal analysis and recommendation, and be very quietly pleased when that niche is filled, being deadly subtle.

Klaus might be a bit harder to get a treecat, though it might be a very good thing for him, since getting a treecat protector might mellow him a bit.

Given how big the family fortune is, I suspect once the treecats realise how important it is to the war effort, the treecats will take steps to protect it.

While some may complain, the growing recognition of the treecats political and economic acumen may finally convince those who think they're only 'cute'. 8-)

Way back on the Bar years ago, one poster gave us all the giggles describing a treecat hunter class known as 'lawyers' that were after the rest of Sphinx or at least 500 years of back taxes etc.

Any snippet or post from RFC is good if not great!

I can see the amusement, but treecats have too much good sense to associate themselves with the VAST majority of lawyers. (there are exceptions though.....)

I thought the "attaching" to people is something subconcious - something that happens if cat and "sentient being" are "made for each other" and not something he cat can decide on?

That's bonding, and yes it's not something the 'cat can decide on. (Well, if a 'cat is interested in being bonded they can seek out chances to come into contact with humans, and if not they can avoid humans -- thus adjusting the chance they'd meet a compatible person. But that's about the limit of it)

But in this thread people have primarily been discussing plans for unbonded 'cats to work with humans to provide help in the GA's fight against the SL and the MAlign. (The offer the 'cats made after Oyster Bay). That's a totally conscience decision and the assignment of the 'cat to a particular human could be altered or ended pretty much at any time by either party. (Though I wouldn't be surprised if having all these extra 'cats out in the universe will cause more of them to come into contact with a human they'll bond to)

I would also not be surprised if some of those bondings occur with top Havenite members of the Grand Alliance, particularly those whose names begin with T, E, or S.

...but I might be a little bit biased.

I have tosay that if anyone gets to have a treecat connected to them you have to add Victor Cachet to the list, I also want to know what his treecat name is. I would bet it is even better then "Dreams of Peace", "Death Fangs Bane" and "Dances on Clouds" which are my favorite so far

The only problem is...

...Victor will never accept a treecat guardian.

Unless he gets hit with a Bonding, and has no choice.

PS - Oh, and a writer in another thread nailed Victor's treecat name long, long ago.

"2-Leg Person"

Dreamrider, I'm going to hold out for my Victor treecat name "Thinks like People", which does say the same thing as the above, but I think mine has more style... 8-) :)

What find more interesting is who didn't die in CoG. RFC deliberately didn't kill off Zach's mother and sister. Does this mean that Jack McBryde left something extra behind that the Gauls didn't find after his suicide?
