Titan - John Varley (I've only read the first book in what I think is a trilogy, and then it was probably 30+ years ago, but I don't recall any fighting with, for, or against aliens.

Rendezvous With Rama, Childhood's End, The Fountains of Paradise - Arthur C. Clarke (admittedly, the aliens are conspicously absent in the first and thid of those, and again, I've only read the first Rama book...)

The Abyss - Orson Scott Card (Yeah, the novelization of the movie, but it's got aliens, and there's no fighting with them, except for Coffey, but that can be blamed on HPNS)

Starman - Alan Dean Foster (another novelization)

Inherit the Stars, The Gentle Giants of Ganymede, Giants' Star, Entoverse - James P. Hogan (I think there's a fifth book in this series, but I haven't read it)

Contact - Carl Sagan

All the Little Fuzzy books by H. Beam Piper (plus a couple of "sequels" written by other authors)

That's all I got glancing over at my bookshelves.

The fifth book in the Giant's Star series is Mission to Minerva, available from Baen Ebooks.

...So, what would you like to see in upcoming Honorverse novels/anthologies? The reappearance of a particular favorite character? Interaction between two characters who haven't met before? Characters you want to see die a messy and painful death? Any or all of the above?

I'd like to see Jeremy X catch up with Georgia Sakristos-Young aka Elaine Komondorski.

I love how you assume she hasn't been vaporized by now. It's so refreshingly optimistic.

On another note, somebody needs to put my Three E's (Eloise, Estelle, and Elizabeth) in the same room and watch the political genius fly.

Also I have this idea in my head that Allen Higgins and Augustus Khumalo are close friends, and I'd love to see it come true.

Speaking of Allen Higgins, I will note yet again: I just need him to be happy!!

I just ordered all of these used via amazon sellers. Thank you guys very much :D

The best deal on the first trilogy was a combo volume called The Minervan Experiment, which contains all three. Then I got Entoverse and Mission and voila` some fun new reads to enjoy.

Please let me/us know what you think about them in the Free Range thread you made. I *really* like those books, and I hope that you will enjoy them as well.

I really need to get Mission sometime soon-ish...

I wish Honor back in the middle of the action, stuck deep in s*** and doing Honor things.

To hell with realism and 'fleet admirals can do that' and all that.

Just dump her in there, abduct her, if need be. :P

Now that's a sentiment I can admire. Stick Honor's heinie back into the wild where it belongs. There's still lots of ass to be kicked. Salamander style!

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Ok, I'll accept the accepting of Abigail accepting the challenge. I'll even designate that fascinating likely to succeed bogey...Honor's tail. As in 'tail win.'
