I believe the reference to Captain Hearnes was that poster's offering of Titles We Wish We Could Read, not a sneak peak into the content of the new anthology.

Remember HH made a double and a triple jump in rank in the RMN. The first was Commander to Captain(SG) and the seconed Commodore to Admiral. Not to mention her quadruple jump in GSN service, from Captain (SG) to Admiral. Also Officers will often be given curtisy rank Commodore Chatterji is most likly a captain but because he is commanding a DESRON he is given a curtisy rank.

Not quite, If Hearns is sent to the ATC as a instructor in missle warfare she wont be given a 'brevit' rank, she will be an instructor. My brother is a Major USA he attendended the US Army's General Staff College and one of his instuctors was a captain one rank below him. This class had MAJ LTC and COL in it.

In any military formation its the knowledge you have not the rank you have. There was a story during the first Gulf War were a Marine Lance courple who had lived in Saudi Arabia before joining the USMC was briefing the Second Marine Division's General and Brigade Staff's on the country and briefing the intellegence staffs too.

There is some major confusion here. Phillies thought you were saying that the new anthology contains a story about Captain Abigail Hearnes, and was asking how she became a captain. I was trying to explain to him that there is no such story (currently), that you were merely suggesting that as a title you would like to see. I am correct that you were just suggesting it?

I have to agree with this one especially since Nimitz is so integral to many of these stories.

I'd like to read "Improper showering procedures" by Pavel Young the late Earl of North Hollow.

I don't have a title, but an idea intrigues me. In SoS, Helen says"

"One spy per family's enough, thank you. Although, come to think of it, Lars is showing some signs of interest. Berry and I certainly never did, though!"
"

Lars has spent time with Anton, Cathy, W.E.B., Victor, Ruth and Jeremy as well as innumerable "associates" of the afore mentioned. Talk about a well rounded education for a master criminal or superspy or both. Now, he will hang with Hugh, his soon to be brother-in-law who until recently has been a member of the Beowulf Biological Survey Corps. I wonder if the Survey accepts "associates" from the SEM. I wonder if he has ever been to an amusement park.

Something to daydream about. Fly, you can daydream about the liberal attitudes of the female members of the Survey.

I can see him playing a male pleasure slave armed with a chemical explosive pistol hidden away that would not trigger the sensors with a power supply.

No, Phillies inserted the original remark as meaning that yet another book title had been announced, and teh book title three or four out in the Future was In teh Sword's Service.

Also, the forum defenses triggered in the way that implies someone tried to hack their way onto the forum while pretending to be me.

Is that what you meant? My apologies for misinterpreting you. Since that isn't posted on the Baen website, or Weber's website, or anywhere else online, I suppose this must be in the newly released book, which I haven't gotten from the library yet. Even the e-arc readers wouldn't know about this unless they had gotten the hardcopy, too.
