Sure, easy enough (and fortunately not too many hits to sort through). I found 2 hits for hemisphere that relate to Grayson.

The most interesting (and one that might possibly have gotten the idea stuck in your head) was this from Field of Dishonor

"It was also, she noticed in surprise, badged in gold with the coat of arms she'd selected as Steadholder Harrington: side-by-side representations of the western hemispheres of Sphinx and Grayson, joined by the stylized key that was the patriarch's sigil of a steadholder, under a vac helmet crest. The helmet looked very little like modern equipment, but it was the symbol which had denoted naval service for almost two thousand T-years."

The other was from Ashes of Victory and talked about how the undomed parts of Austin City were snow covered as "it was winter in Grayson's northern hemisphere"

The other twenty odd hits were for other planets, references to Earth's Western Hemisphere (as "in most colonists came from"), or uses related to just the geographic shape.

Hmmm, thanks for that search Johnathan. Who knows what the hell is going on in my head. I'll file it away as another UFO (unidentified frickin' obsession).

Edit:
And you are right that that very well may be what got it stuck in my head.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

I want to know what Horace Harkness had against Marines, and how it played out. And how he got engaged with cyber ops, which doesn't go with small craft at first glance.

I want to know what Estelle was up to before OBS. Did she piss somebody off, and is that why she was banished? Or was she sent off there because she was the only one with the skills to handle it properly? Was she really best friends with Dame Amandine Corvisart, the way I think she was? Where did she go to university, and what did she major in?

Basically I just want a whole series of novels about Estelle detailing her entire life.

That's easy. He had nothing at all against Marines. He just liked to fight and wanted to fight someone he knew would be a challenge and could take what he dished out. Think of it as informal UFC. I imagine the first few times, the Marines were wondering the same as you, but I figure they caught on soon enough and humored him.

Considering his checkered background, and how easily he was able to hack some gambling games for his "guards", I suppose he could have learned computer "adjustments" doing the same thing in his early days.

:D

I suspect that the groundside administration of Basilisk wasn't as much of a backwater or punishment posting as the naval station had become. So I'm guessing that Estelle wasn't being banished; but that's a guess.

I hope you get your Estelle story.

Ok. I finally remembered the one thing that has confused the ever living whatever out of me for the last twenty years.
Someone please explain or point out to me the info dump that explains the differences and nuances of seniority of red and green of Admirality. Ex. ( from HoS)“Henke, Lady Gloria Michelle Samantha Evelyn, Countess Gold Peak
Vice Admiral of the Red, Royal Manticoran Navy”

Ok, here's the rundown:

There are two designations for flag officers. The more senior half is designated "of the Green", or part of the Manticore Division; the more junior half is designated "of the Red", or part of the Gryphon Division. Basically what it means is that Henke is (at the time) one of the more junior Vice Admirals in Manticoran service. When more than half of the RMN's Vice Admirals are junior to her, she'll be "of the Green" - but probably not for long before she gets promoted to full Admiral!

However, I *think* it's possible to be promoted red/green without waiting for attrition and promotions to clear space above them. I seem to remember someone in the Talbott books getting such a promotion, but I'm away from my library at the moment.

'Of the Red' and 'Of the Green' is a seniority designation. It's no different than any other time in a military officer's career. If rank is equal, the one with more time in grade is in charge- unless the junior officer has direct orders from a superior to the contrary. The only exception is Midshipmen on their snotty cruise. Seniority is then decided by class rank.

Since RFC has designed the RMN along the lines of the Napoleonic era British Navy, I'm sure that there's a periodical published that has the seniority lists for each rank available. Everybody kept up with those lists.

In the British Navy of that era, if one made "Post" or Captain and didn't die, resign or get cashiered, you were guaranteed to eventually reach Admiral just by seniority. You might be a doddering, toothless 80 year old that hadn't been to sea in 40 years but you'd still be an Admiral.

Indeed, at it apparently continued in the SKM, asw Captain Bachfisch, despite being on half-pay for decades, had accumalated enough senority to get an Admirals' greeting from Honor in WoH.
