Ship weapons were fired a few other times (such as at ground facilities or ineffectually at the gaseous alien in Obsession), but those can't be considered space battles. Battles occur off-screen a couple times.

OK, you know just saying five and not listing them is going to bring out the geezers like me that watched TOS (The Original Series) when it was original...

1. The Romulan-Enterprise battle.
2. The Klingon-Enterprise battle
3. Gorn-Enterprise (the ground battle was featured, but there was a scene with the Enterprise under attack with Sulu at the helm and returning fire.
4. The battle with the Doomsday device.
5. The battle with 4 other UFP starships while the Enterprise was under control by an AI.
6. The battle with the souped-up Rigelian ship

At least those are the ones I can think of.

Double gold star! Those are the ones I came up with, skimming through an episode list, except that I forgot that the battle between the Gorn and Enterprise was on-screen (which is why I came up with 5 instead of 6).

None of these show space battles. I will concede a brief battle scene in the Tholian Web.

Boy did I bring the trekkies out. Don't know 'bout you guys, but I enjoyed the most battles, Federation against the Klingons, in the most epic computer game...the good ole text version of Star Trek, rewritten fifty-leven times.

Alright Trekkies, 1000 bonus points to the first person that can tell me the original reason given for cancelling Star Trek original series during its heyday.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

May have been why it was really cancelled, but wasn't the reason given.

The reason given was that the show was too 'cerebral.' The episode of "The Cage," in particular.

Reading between the lines...they thought their audience was too dumb to get it!

Ironic thing is...they were too dumb to get that their audience was probably amongst the smartest out there.

I love that game. First computer game I remember playing where captaining a capital ship in battle meant more than just flying a really big fighter. I have it on an old collection of freeware games, shareware games, and demos my dad picked up for me back in the early 90s and still run through it occasionally.
