Strangely enough I could buy it right now, even though I was under the impression it's release date was later, while my Kindle pre-order for "At the Sign of Triumph" is still hanging fire. Maybe I simply had my Kindle release dates messed up.

No - release date for SOV was 1 November- Baen always releases on the first Tuesday of the month.

If they made the delivery date... my copy must have been routed through Timbuktu or maybe East Kookamunga as it is the fifth and I haven't seen it

Did you order both books? IIRC, Amazon will hold orders until they're complete if you go for free shipping. At least for short delays like a week.

They definitely made the ship date: SoV has been on the shelves for most of 2 weeks now. In fact ATSOT was out last week.

No ,there is an issue at Amazon. I have been told I'll get my copy on the 9th and I ordered in long time ago with prime.

That is strange. I ordered from Amazon and my copy was delivered Monday 10/31, one day early. I also have Prime. Maybe the issue was specific to a single distribution center. Now I await ATSOT, hopefully it'll be delivered tomorrow, 11/7

I just finished my first read of SoV. Will I do a reread? Of course. It was overall a good book and I enjoyed re-engaging some the familiar characters such as Scotty and Sir Hoarace and seeing how Scotty does with his first experience of being out on his own without his seniors to keep an eye on him.

That said I would understand but not fully share the disappointment of those who were unhappy that it didn't advance the plot beyond COG. The book could have been strengthened by restricting the outcome of the liberation movements to those previously mentioned rather than adding more which I would agree did become a bit confusing. The extra space could have included a chapter detailing what finally happed at Beowulf, for example. Did the SLN attack?

But I was intrigued to discover that Daud's little cabal on Old Earth has found some fellow travelers which promises future plot advancement for that thread.

A closing thought. I think Harahap got set up by Mesan agents to be thrust in a position where he had to take the proffered position. As pointed out, Yucel could have been cleaning up loose ends by staging assassinations, but I don't believe it. That was Mesa from the getgo and I wouldn't be surprised but wha Daimon knew it.

Don't know what the shipping problem is/was. Last Honorverse book I ordered was shipped on the release date. Checking the status of mine, the payment went through on Oct 31, order being processed, shipped on the 4th will arrive (yeah maybe) Thursday (tomorrow).

I looked at the reviews on Amazon.com. They are by far the worst reviews of any Honorverse book. Nearly half are one star reviews and about half of the rest are two star.
Now I think a one star rating is too low but I think most of them are anger at being disappointed.
I have had the impression for quite a while that the historian and world builder in RFC can interfere with the story teller. And in Shadow of Victory this has happened. There is more back story than story and this is bed especially when you have cliff hangers to resolve.
