The SLN is whining because they are being curb stomped by neo-barbarians which is not supposed to happen. It is they who are supposed do the curb stomping on neo-barbarians.

The SLN never seemed to have realized that a big enough technological deficit could create a scenario where the SLN's super-sized reserve fleet and an active wall of battle 4 times the size of the next-biggest one was completely worthless.

They also hold a belief that no one could ever develop such a technological advantage over them in the first place

Everyone just made JV jokes before they obliterated 25% of the SLN in 10 minutes. Luckily nobody in the real world would ever grossly underestimate their enemies or overestimate the capability of their forces and allies.

Governor Duenas in Saltash repeatedly thought Zavala was treacherous, despite the fact he illegally detained the manticoran merchants.


And the Mandarins, well let's not really get into how far from reality they are, since everything that doesn't result on Solarian supremacy = other guy is traitor, or doesn't fight fair.

The Mandarins are more of a case of them believing that everyone is gaming the system for their personal benefit.
