Hi MaxxQ,

Was this a 'con or conference and online to boot?

"Very interesting."

Was this about the new book series?

Will this be available some time in the future?

It seemed you all had fun. :D

No, that just makes him lucky.

I wasn't in the same room, or even the same state, but I was there too. Much more fun than I expected, having never done that before.
Any snippet or post from RFC is good if not great!

I'll leave the answers to your questions to those who know how much or how little to divulge.

Although your last question gets a definite "no".

Does David run classes on how to taunt fans for Bu9? Or is it just a required skill to be part of Bu9? ;)

Crunching the numbers from the Battle of Manticore gives a different breakdown. They fired 7776 pods. That means 69,984 missiles. Subtract the Apollo birds and you have 62,208 left. The text says that 54,208 of those were shipkillers. That's around 87% with only 13% or so as EW platforms. I'm uncertain if the pods' ratio of shipkiller to EW bird is fixed or if they can mix and match different ratios as the ops plan requires.

I had just finished reading the Battle of Spindle passage in Mission of Honor, and that was the breakdown between shipkillers and EW birds. Of course, Michelle didn't have any Invictuses available, but I assumed it's a pretty standard apportionment for Manty missile launches - especially since I remember the Manties having used the 2/3-1/3 breakdown in several battles against the Havenites as well, in some of the older books.

I would expect Apollo pods to have a 25/75 (2 of eight missiles) EW ratio. Pod layers have to work with the ratio of EW to warbirds preloaded into pods unless some pods are loaded with only EW birds and the rest with all warbirds.

(Now if I could just find the right questions.)

Re: the bolded part. I've thought similarly myself. I figure one pod of EW per 12-pod salvo - 11 attack pods and 1 EW pod.

Re: Technical questions re military hardware. DISPATCH BOATS

Here is my next question, re dispatch boats.

I've just finished rereading Mission of Honor. After the Yawata Strike Mr Weber writes that the dispatch boat sent to recall Honor from Haven made the journey from Trevor's Star in only six and a half days, while the boat informing Manticore of the attack on Grayson's shipyards made the run between Yeltsin's Star and Manticore in four days.

Now why would that be, when the distance between Trevor's Star and Haven is several times the distance between Manticore and Yeltsin's Star?
