Back to Stacey, btw. Stephen Westman, yes or no and why?
Besides the romantic angle, think of what the Hauptman presence would do for the Talbott systems.... ---------------------

Personally, I've always hoped that Scotty would fall in love with someone from that first fearless inner circle. That became a very close-knit group. The closest, most profound, special group in the series. It just seems unrealistic that no one became romantically entangled. Or rather, it would seem more realistic if some pairing within the group did happen. Harkness and Babcock are the closest thing to that close-knit group, but not quite.
Hey, here's a thought, to satisfy that and in keeping with reality, how about Scotty falling for a much older woman from that inner-circle, a cougar. As in Mercedes Brigham? There are cougars in the Honorverse aren't there? Although, with prolong, the cougar status grows off in time. Damn prolong, affects everything. Or, from the original Fearless, Scotty can end up with a woman much like his pal Harkness in Henrietta Turner. Turner was a Marine who fought against the Medusans. If you still don't like any of those pairings, remember, love can make one do crazy and embarrassing things and he could end up falling in love with 'cough' Lois Suchon. OUCH! Stop throwing things! Lois needs love too! Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

Thinking carefully about it, and with all the generosity of spirit I can manage, I have to say - no, no, Lois does not need love too. The love would wonder what the heck it was doing here. |

while i kind of like the idea of scotty pairing off with someone from the original fearless, there just aren't many survivors to make it work.
plus I suspect they will have problems seeing the officer he's become and not the green ensign that harkness took under his wing. |

But but but... Everyone needs a second chance at rehabilitation. I bet that Suchon's problem stems from some deep-rooted psychological daddy issues. Somehow, her problems can be traced back to her father - who failed to shower her with the proper love and affection a little girl needed. A much older man that truly loves her and sees the good in her could could turn her around. Or Honor deciding to rehabilitate her after running into her again and deciding not to kill her first. Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. But this would require Lois Suchon to have some sort of redeemable qualities, like Satan. She doesn't. ~*~

Sorry, Lois. You just don't have anything I can work with to argue your point. Here's something to chew on. What about Elaine Kormandorski rising back to power and prominence by running into someone rich and powerful and rising from the ashes like the phoenix? But who is rich and powerful enough that doesn't want to see her dead? Or just powerful. What about Elaine and Firebrand? The MAlignment could use her to infiltrate certain elements of Manticoran government, since she intimately knows Manticoran society. With reworked nanoplasty(or whatever the hell it's called) she could take on a whole new identity and could become a Mesan agent. It's not like she has any scruples. And she's desperate. Getting a bit desparate, are we?

I dunno, we could pair Suchon off with a similarly useless person like, say, Houseman et. al? But only if they can't add anything to the descendancy gene pool.
